What is the solution to internet gate-keeping from corporations?

>Hate speech policies.
>De-platforming.
>Domain providers banning people for hate speech.
>Google and Apple being the only two outlets for mobile apps ban developers who don't meet their hate speech guidelines (see: Gab for recent example).
>Patreon banning patrons who receive funding for their content that is right-wing, violates their hate speech policy, or they just don't like.
>Hatreon will inevitably get banned by whatever company the domain is from.
>YouTube demonitizing unfriendly content creators based on incredibly strict guidelines.
>Companies like Netflix getting rid of rating systems to prevent obviously political and Jewish propaganda from getting shitty ratings.
>Algorithms on search functions and front pages of websites that prevent controversial opinions from appearing at the top.
>Anything that falls outside of the narrowly defined band of acceptable opinion and talk is blacklisted, shadowbanned, outright banned and de-platformed.
>Leftists are totally okay with this while at the same time making 1984/dystopia comparisons with Trump; rather than decrying this obviously dystopian, monopolistic and gate-keeping behaviour that goes counter to their views.

Its honestly quite scary. I'm not sure what the solution to this is. How can we ever have freedom of speech on the internet again? Can this trend be reversed?

Become useful idiot now!

The solution is to not rely on centralized Internet services. For example, Diaspora instead of Facebook.

Going to dissent with you on the Netflix one. There's a perfectly technical reason for them to go to like/dislike. Binary data like that is much better for machine learning than star ratings, and wanting to experiment with ML reccomendation interfaces is hip in tech at the moment.

Create your own DNS server at home and start collecting IP addresses from popular sites.

As long as AT&T doesn't shut down traffic, you'll just have to get through the darkweb, like they did in the days before web crawlers.

Era of Data Scam social media is ending
Kill youthoughtcrimetube's dominance & kill facefuck's dominance
should be Trump's tech and free speech priority

have a painless seamless overnight replacement with a meshed together network of competing platforms so they're not lone data scam platforms hoarding all the data the users have put on over the last 8 years. you'd have meshtube, meshbook and meshtweet so that youtube & facebook for example would just be one company of 10 or so healthily competing all interlocked together so that users see videos/posts and can interact with them even if the friends/creators are using another platform. end this data scam assault of the public square & ideas. currently the data scam model of social media only allows one set of companies to profit from the data of humanity that they don't even own and had no role in creating. they are using this data hostage approach to censor humanity and make people read/watch leftwing. Zuckerfuck himself is using his platform to make people vote him into office with fake PR so he can protect his data scam into the future. holding world's data hostage to shill for yourself

all data: subscribers, views, comments, likes, photos, friends people have produced and typed up over the last 10 years (which they own, not the Data Scammers like they would have you believe) is on meshtube and meshbook the day this law is passed. for pewdiepie and his viewers, or your family and their friends using facebook nothing changes except they are no longer censored and facefuck is a $1billion company again like it should be. holding people's data hostage is not providing a hundred billion dollars of value to the world a big group of generation Z's could reproduce facefuck in a year it's not a special contribution to the world, what is valuable is the data (which the people typed up not facefuck). facefuck and ADLtube need a harsh wake up

end Zuckerfuck Data Scam Enterprises and ADL terror thoughtcrimetube.

should start implementing parallel institutions like recoding the basics of facefuck, thoughtcrimetube, goolag and others, then can get them inserted into the mesh networks. do better than their institutions and then blacklist SJWs

humanity owns it's own data, not Zuckerfuck data scam enterprises. pic is a network topology of the competing company products that would all operate on meshbook together seamlessly like you wouldn't even necessarily know what platform the friends you're interacting with are using

just making facefuck competitors or campaigns to switch from it won't solve anything because they still hold most of the world's data hostage and can leverage it to stop people leaving. break it up with law to end the scam and reintroduce healthy competition

they would all be essentially clones of facefuck so people can choose the company who's interface, practices and owners they like the best

there should probably be laws against manipulating the public mind with your platform too (including political censorship) to apply to the big 3 networks, youtube, facebook, twitter and also goolag

They are Silicon Valley supremacists and believe the truth and impactful dialogue should be thoughtcrime

>>Leftists are totally okay with this while at the same time making 1984/dystopia comparisons with Trump; rather than decrying this obviously dystopian, monopolistic and gate-keeping behaviour that goes counter to their views.

Left wing sites are being defunded and shadow banned as well.

Basically they are going after anything that isnt mainstream.

Am I the only one who thinks this will just make it more fun? It isn't ACTUALLY illegal so there's no danger, we just get to now play an exciting game of cat and mouse with all these virtue signaling companies / be an ACTUALLY suppressed group.

Create new start up's
Chip away at the big corporations piece of the pie.

Minds instead of kikebook

We need a new altTECH industry

Usenet, BBS though ssh, etc.

You know, things that don't have pretty pictures.

It's a complex nuanced problem and not one you can solve with some quick easy solution. There are a LOT of different ways to fuck with any given website.

Nerds hate censorship though and are constantly trying to fight the man on this issue though. Tor, Bitcoin, and Torrents are all relatively recent methods to take control of the internet out of centralised hands.

>How do I avoid censorship on the internet? Oh I know! China!

You're missing the point. The objective is not to simply migrate to another centralized network that happens to mesh with your worldview at the moment. The objective is to take control of your own data such that no one has the power to shut you down for any reason.

The real danger isn't here yet though OP.

Wait until quantum computers come about and start breaking internet encryption.

None of them get over the issue of ISPs and domain registrars. We were freer back when all you needed was a modem and a phone line.

The real issue is that people keep trying to recreate the corporate web without corporate resources that make such things possible.

The difficulty with that is that people keep wanting to make 200 HD videos on the same subject.

If we were to limit it just to text/html then every single person could have the entirety of everything on their computer. A file made would have a million backups. But all the time you expect TB after TB of storage you make such a model impossible.

>What is the solution to internet gate-keeping from corporations?

Are you ready for this one? Corporations that profit out of keeping those shitty corporations away. My idea is a network of sites that exists over a blockchain and mining that blockchain includes hosting parts of it as well. Kinda like Tor relays but also people do it for profit by getting FreeNet coins (or whatever you want to call them) out of it, which cost real money like the current cryptocurrency does

A first amendment cause brought to the supreme court, declaring that internet access / platform access is a necessary part to free speech rights, similar to how access to public places is also necessary for free speech rights.

Free speech is worthless when you're shoved in a closet, friends.

End the FCC so we can just do this shit over radio.

>Google and Apple being the only two outlets for mobile apps

Learn to plug a computer into a backbone ISP, instead of your handheld touchscreen gadget.

violence is always a good solution

This guy is correct though that the correct approach is to avoid centralisation period.

This is part of why how people have been doing shit like moving from mumble to discord is retarded because discord is far far more centralised.

Using centralised alternatives to liberal platforms that purport to be pro free speech is kind of stupid, because peoples attitude around that can change, and often DOES change in response to things like advertiser pressure. There have been plenty of sites that started out proudly boasting about how pro speech they are which implemented more and more censorship over time. The way to win in the long term is to avoid a situation where anybody has the power to censor you period.

TOR, torrents, and bitcoin ALL don't rely on DNS you retard. They DO absolutely sidestep the problem of DNS level censorship.

Trying to stop censorship at an ISP level is much harder and if you want to see a battle against that shit is unfolding just look at how people try to get past the great firewall of Chyna to watch porn. It's a bit of an arms race. There isn't really a great solution to stop that. Don't forget about how countries like Iran have literal internet kill switches they activate when the rabble is revolting which makes getting any internet access painfully difficult to disrupt protests.

richard stallman, is that you?

I just want to be able to watch hentai in peace.
Just that, why do they keep banning muh chinese cartoon porn? Birth rates aren't going down because of it..

You can't use these to spread information though.

Are you going to make a .torrent file for every single video, by year, by creator? How do you keep it up to date? How do you keep it seeded well enough to stop it downloading at dial-up speed for a 2GB video of someone talking at a camera?

We need to stop thinking in these Web 2.0 ways and get down to spreading information rather than hoarding it.

Open source projects. Donations of money, time, and work in addition to spreading the message.

If you want to compete with all these private companies, you must, in a way, act like them.

Too bad it's pointless because most people are lazy pieces of shit and won't stick with causes that don't have anything to do with saving the children or buying pink ribbons.

dark web

This. Any other hambros here?

...

>Make a website
>Autistic virgins shit post all over it
>They're jobless so they never buy anything from advertisements
>They create an inordinate amount of traffic from the 24/7 shit posting
>Piss off people who are actually contributing and funding the site
>Decide to ban them
>REEEE FREE SPEECH

i think minds is working on decentralised platform

>We need to stop thinking in these Web 2.0 ways and get down to spreading information rather than hoarding it.

Again, missing the point. The early Web used protocols and standards to spread information. Can you imagine what e-mail, for example, would be like if it had been invented in 2009?

>Hey goys, come join Facemail! Send messages to all of your friends, family, and coworkers (who have a Facemail account)! We promise we will only read your messages a little bit to advertise to you.

This shit like social networks, video sharing, microblogging, these could all be accomplished with standards that allow anyone, anywhere to access them using whatever platform they desired. But they aren't because they were developed after the transition of the Internet from a method of exchanging information to a commercial enterprise.

Ponies are the answer.

is this what anarchists believe ?

When and where?

>I'm not sure what the solution to this is

There is no easy solution. The infrastructure behind companies like Google is immense, vast and expensive and there really is no one that can compete with them.

The search algorithms they use are genuinely good and it's what made them more popular in the first place.

They're so entrenched into society as a public service that it's just a nightmarishly huge battle to beat them at what they do best.

You can go on about how you have to make your own startups, you have to boycott their services but we all know how futile that battle is because the normies are and will not be ever engaged enough to do so.

The only real alternatives I see are government action (basically declaring google's services a public utility which would mean enforcing neutral political views and content by law) or Google themselves failing and being taken over by someone else.

I just use the flag to trigger you.

But ANCAPs want this

I disagree with this general sentiment in that, the more data is sent over the internet, the more unmanagable it becomes to control. When everybody is streaming 25Mbps 4k video it's going to become harder and harder for people to slip a few bytes of data part or for big brother to be able to actually realistically store all that data.

If everybody is used to sending across a ton of data, slipping a little extra data in isn't very hard.

>You can't use these to spread information though.

You can actually, see how wikileaks distributes their leaks. The MPAA would also disagree that torrents are ineffective at getting videos they want censored spread around. Tor has long been used to connect people to drug dealers which is sort of "Sharing information". bitcoin has a different purpose but is good to stop fuckery like trying to blackball people from payment processors like visa/mastercard/paypal.

Obviously it's a solution with limited utility and there are ways to interfere with torrent downloads like interrupting the download by sending TCP RST packets to break the connection and tracking the IPs of people downloading the files and then threatening them. However it's still harder to censor a video distributed via P2P than to censor a video distributed through other means.

There are solutions for allowing updates to torrent files but none of them have been adopted as a widespread standard. Really we need more and better p2p platforms rather than all this client-server model shit if you really want to make the internet more resilient against censorship.

BTW what me and this user are talking about is a good example of anarchist-left advocacy that Sup Forums seems to think doesn't exist and can never work. We're literally advocating an approach that would undermine MUH PROPERTY and authoritarian control simultaniously.

>Left wing sites are being defunded and shadow banned as well.

>Basically they are going after anything that isnt mainstream.

this is big, if exposed properly, the mainstream audience could stand against it

>we are being mixes with nazis!!!

you get the idea

its called Sup Forums. companies can do what they want. if you dont like it make your own website faggot

you realize that could no longer be an option at some point it censorship shit continues to go this way?
