The Mayor and the Labour party in general avoid being in the news due to their failings (both past and present) and both have also received bad rep for supporting bad causes recently too.

Less reported issues (for Labour and Mayor) are promises of student fee being removed from the last snap election if Labour won (entirely false and not viable either) and the Mayor not doing enough officially to address the Greenfell fire incident.

Other point is that the previously Mayor (Boris) had almost unconditional support from the (((media))) so his negatives were either held back or "cleaned" away as it were where as the current Mayor (Khan) does not have this support.

Last but not least the only real reason Khan was elected was due to poor competition from other candidates in the last Mayoral election (and the Conservative candidate was poorly put across and plenty leaflets were distributed by unofficial Labour volunteers which had a particularly negative view on Zack which was fairly accurate to most people).

OP here. I used to work with him. He is an incredible man motivator, and one of the best bosses I've ever worked for. When you work for him, you're always a colleague, or a friend, and anyone can give him advice. That's his biggest skill, listening to everyone, and making everyone feel part of the team.

Interesting replies. The muslim angle etc. is all a bit overplayed. Dude is very liberal and relaxed on his faith, which can only be a good thing in terms of showing positive role models in the face of genuine problems with Islamic integration.

Problem for me is that he's a bit of a mundane career politician. He's pretty charismatic, I'll give him that, but he doesn't come up with any cool/interesting opinions, policies, or angles. For me, he just plays it too safe all the time. He's the mayor of one of the most important cities in the world, he has the scope to do something really cool. Grenfell tower's collapse was an opportunity to do something, to push for something, in the face of London's terrible housing situation, but nothing.
