Cameras for shooting

What is the Sup Forums approved DSLR? I plan to shoot video on future alt right rallies for propaganda purposes. I can get this t2i for $200 and shoot 1080p. I was recommended the 80d but it's 5x more. Any videofags here? Tell me which one you got.

Git mirrorless for vidya. Something with an on-sensor phase-detection af works gr8 vs. cuck af of a dslr. Panasonics, fuji, sony a6xxx, olympus om-d series.

Great, now I understand everything lmao

camerea doesnt matter as much as the lens.

get good high quality memory cards and dont cheap out on the price.

get an extra battery to take along to be able to shoot for longer periods of time.

also invest in a decent gimbal or stabilizer. a "selfie stick" is not good. this besides the lens is where your biggest added cost will be for the camera.

image stabilization in a video editor tool is not good especially if the footage isnt recorded with any stabilizing before hand.

do you want a shaky mess or do you want to be able to walk fast swing the camera around or even run with it while still getting crisp and clear images? thats the difference between a good stabilizer a shitty one or without.

How can I get video that looks like this Vice documentary?

youtube.com/watch?v=P54sP0Nlngg

I have a macbook pro that can edit 4k

But I don't know which camera can give me Vice tier footage

Let's reroll: what is your max budget? Do you have any old gear like lenses?

a good or decent lens. tripod for the sittin down static shots. and a stabilizer for on the go.

the video itself has been color graded which is pretty much a bunch of small filters used to bring certain colors out or set a tone for the look of the recording.

i wouldnt push to produce something as good as that with just you, it cant be done not easily at least. you'll need good mics and its a lot of effort to edit syncing the audio sources all up without professional grade equipment.

I want to spend less duh

But I can drop $2k if I'm convinced it's for the best

The problem is there are too many cameras. Canon 80d, Pasasonic GH4, GH7, T6, Sony a6300. This gives me a headache

Can the "kit lens" do a good job or do I have to spend more?

look up the pros and cons for each camera. honestly the t2i is what you should get with a small budget because you NEED to account for spending a few hundred on a single good lens. then a battery and you NEED a stabilizer. you also need a decent mic that can block out wind noise unless that doesnt bother you.

i know some of those cameras are great for low light and thats a bout it, the t2i will be just fine.

spend more money, kit lenses are for instagramming or mommy photogs on facebook. they wont be good at all for filming decent looking footage whilst moving around.

One great option for video is the Black Magic Design Pocket Cinema Camera. It will produce the results in teh vice vidya.

Ben benefit of that platfor is the small form factor and the micro 4/3 lens system that is very inexpensive compared with larger formats.

Get a "through stop" midrange zoom like getolympus.com/us/en/lenses/pen-omd/wide-zoom/m-zuiko-digital-ed-12-40mm-f2-8-pro.html

> professional documentary results

>DON'T FORGET ABOUT AUDIO

>MacBook pro
Wow. Kill yourself you massive faggot.

Sony A7r ii. Changed my mind on Sony competely.

Get a GoPro Hero Session for $150. Its REALLY small and can mount on anything. It can do higher resolution at 30FPS, but you can do 1080 at 60fps with it no problems. Its waterproof and can handle shocks

a7s for video

>functional video auto focus
>better codec support

Lens and sensor, you stupid faggot. Sensor is as important as the lens.

Can you recommend a good stabilizer? The only one I know is "Glidecam". I want to be in the thick of it so I'll be pushed around a lot by protesters and need to get dat steady footage.

That setup sounds like >2k though. But I agree you need a bright aperture for low light rioting. Maybe a fast wide prime?

>going digital
>not using film
Fucking plebs

Also GoPro Hero 5 Black can do 4k, 60FPS and has external battery. handles water and heavy shocks. $500 which leaves you a fuckload of money to spend on other shit.

>film is way more expensive and a consumable
>editing film in 2017 and not being tarantino or an art house film studio

hipster faggot

What about 1080p vs 4k? Is 4k a must now? I prefer Canon colors based on the sample videos I've seen but they don't have 4k on their mid-range DSLRs, I'd have to pay an upwards of $5000 to get Canon 4k. The GH4 looks really good to me.

DSLRs aren't the best for shooting action video, because the autofocus is slow. Get a regular camcorder for your purposes.

glidecam is awesome, but heavy and imprecise.
if you want steadycam shots you should look at the DJI Osmo Pro platform - All in one self-stabilizing micro 4/3 gimbal

4k isnt a must most people dont even have 4k monitors yet, as for stabilizers look somewhere in the 600-1100 range id avoid getting into situations where you will be pushed because if someone sees you wearing expensive shit and not on their side they will want to break it.

fool canon 70D has dual-pixel on sensor phase detect AF for video

Image quality is good enough for being casey neistats go to vlogging camera for a long time so it'll be good enough for whatever you're going to shoot.

G7 LUMIX

Enjoy shooting sharts in 4K

most midrange prosumer video cams support 4k - but this is mostly used to give you more crop room in editing. then deliver at 1080.

no one can properly deliver 4k content right now

if it's for vidya only I would consider the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Just don't forget that it doesn't ship with a lens and lenses ain't that cheap.

for smallest possible package for covert work - i will again reference the Black Magic Pocket 4k Cam
