Dunno, probably wrong intel or damage control. Even the first time they increased that number, it was only like 120 they estimated to be fighting there. Their latest estimates are 600-700 fighters, though there are likely to be 1.000-2.000 more fighters around the island of Mindanao. There are like 4 factions. Abus Sayyaf(ASG), Maute Group, Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters(BIFF) and Ansar Khalifa Philippines(AKP) who fight together through IS. Maute is probably a lost cause tho
Jeremiah Ramirez
I doubt the philipines isis is actually a branch of the syrian one, they guys in philipines probably just thought that original isis was cool and a good idea, and proclaimed themselves as a part of it. I especially doubt the 2 groups have a sort of joint ledership, or any kind of contact aside from maby a few informal internet convesrations. I mean, isis is getting it's shit kicked in left, right, and center, they know that they will get kicked back to the shores of euohrates soon, and i dont see how they on top of that would worry about shit going on in the philipines, let alone try to manage them. So i doubt philipines are a getting to be a stronghold of isis, atleast not the isis we all know, perhaps of some other gropup. Hoewer, admitedly i dont know much about this, would anyone be willing to bring me up to speed on philipine isis ?

Actually, Maute and ASG received alot of funding from ISIS through a Malaysian business man, and also received crucial training by IS veterans. IS even said a year ago or so that if recruits can't get to the Levant, they should go to Philippines. Their goal was to set up a huge stronghold in Marawi and had planned for the siege for atleast a year. Their plans was to completely seize the city when the military least expected it and to set up defensive perimeters around the area while other cells wreak havoc in other cities. Good thing the military foiled their plans before they acted
It was a dutch kagarifag from /bant/ who stole the 7 eights. >he probably ate a big ban for that.

south west asia has had a very strong Islamic insurgency for almost a hundred years
the Americans had to fight them off when they occupied the islands before WW2, that's the people that Trump's idol Pershing would shoot with pig blood soaked bullets
The ISIS affiliate there is basically the ancestor of them

>months of careful planning >get bronco'd before you can put it into motion nice that they got their shit kicked in eventually, but the philipinos shouldn't have lost much of the city to begin with

Is it just me or is Putin the most redpilled leader in the world today? Don't get me wrong, I'm somewhat of a White Nationalist/National Socialist myself, but I find it absolutely pathetic and autistic to blame the Jews for our own troubles. We have to start taking responsibility for our own actions and shortcomings. Besides, there are plenty of Jews that are /ourguys/ and on /ourside/. I have great respect for Israel, not only because their Jews are extremely nationalistic and conservative, but they know how to deal with the Islamic terror that is trying to harm the world today.
They also have some pretty QT girls too.
John Perez
Huh, i didnt know that actually, what do you suppose is the fighting capability of the ohiliphines branch ? Taking one city by suprise and holding it for a few months is one thing, but do they have any capability of becoming an actuall army that can launch actuall offensives ?

ISIS shouldn't be able to become any force that can amke offensive. The only reason it occured in Syria and Iraq is because the governments nearly collapsed and the military deseerted. As long as that doesn't happen anywhere else this Maute city being taken should be the max they can afford to do.
Bentley Young

It's a quite misunderstood fight. It wasn't an invasion, but more like a long-waiting trojan horse. Most of the fighters lived in the city all their lives and used their own houses to store weapons and ammo supplies in preparation for the big attack. Once the army and police attempted to raid one compound where they believed the ASG and Flip IS leader Isnilon Hapilon was hiding, they triggered the operation and made the entire jihadist battalion to come out and fight them off. Kind of a surprise
In Flipland it has been more of a rebellion for seperation than an actual jihadistic insurgency. It wasn't untill the 90's after US trained Mujaheddeen fighters, who were initially going to fight in Afghanistan against Soviet, did what most US trained Mujahideen fighter did and spread jihad and havoc across the southern part
No idea. In terms of jungle warfare, AFP has decades of experience and expertise. But if Maute would have stuck to their plan, I think that it would be far harder to recapture Marawi, and it would be especially risky if they would launch other sieges on eg. Cotabato, Zamboanga etc.
It's just that Western Mindanao in general is in chaos with terrorists hiding in numerous villages. Hadn't Martial Law been stigmatized by the Universities, Media and Opposition party, the mess in Mindanao would probably have been over long ago before Duterte would even run for Presidency. It's simply the lack of Military authority that makes it a "wild west" for jihadists.

Once W Qalamoun is complete, will the units move on to Hama/Homs? Seeing some Hezzy action in the hot pockets would be dope.
Making sure Assad and Iran has to deal witb the brunt of ISIS' offensive capabilities. Cleansing Tel Afar means PMU will free up a shitton of units that could've been used to secure the rest of Iraq months ago. The Iraqi gov (directed by the US) will only have Hawija left to halt the PMU from heading to al-Qaim. Some speculate the iraqi gov will try a similar method before Hawija as Tel Afar. muh "we gotta prepare longer" etc But others say it will start almost instantly after Tel Afar is done.
Aaron Walker
>i thought for a while that there might be more than one burgerbaker, having a burger flag with >1 post by this id calling the bake definitely makes it confusing
I always laugh if my ID changes right when I announce, then it looks like a shill just wandered in and tried to do a thread split, but yes I'm the same Putin/Lavrov/baking burger. We do have that recent burger that showed up a few days ago and baked for the first time, and a few times since, but he's only done 3 or 4 threads late at night. I don't normally bake that late.
Asher Perry
Logic you double digit IQs. They were not supposed to attack ISIS so ISIS can focus most of it's abilities fighting SAA and wounding them. Now that PMU atacked Tal Afar ISIS has logistically focus on the attack and prepeare for upcomming attack on al-quaim meaning inheretly less focus on SAA and quicker inbound collapse..
Carter Phillips
