If you like it, stay. I live in a pretty messed up city, but my area is nice and the weather is good. Easy access to stores, good neighbors, etc. On paper this city is a shit stain, but there are plenty of good things. I bet Chicago has a lot to offer and I bet most of the problem areas are well known and mostly avoidable.
