The spillways are flooded so can't release water and the edges are eroding?

No, it just starting to go over the northern abutment/spillway. they are concrete and should be able to handle the overflow.

It should be overflowing at the far ends right now. Probably slow down the gains a little, but if it goes above 115, it's going to come right over the middle and flood everything in its path. If the dam breaks, it's going to cause a massive surge and destroy homes and people in its path.
*peak* god dammit. But yeah the situation is absolutely fucked for a good while to come.

LET THE WATER FLOW AND THE DAM BLOW
Jace Carter
Reminder that storms/flooding can displace manhole covers and then there can be suction not visible to the naked eye into sewers. Basically, you can just be walking on a flooded street, get sucked into the sewers (Delta P), and then not be able to swim out and drown in shit.
Webm is delta P happening to a crab
Hudson Diaz
The water they already have been releasing from the reservoirs they said will be there for 2 months. There will be absolutely nothing left to salvage.

Never understood that either. Especially those amerifags living in tornado-ridden regions that build houses out of cardboard. Use bricks and your house wouldn't give a fuck about a tornado. But nooooo, let's use paper.

Houston got hit with a double whammy and a hurricane that exploded. No one ever expects the next hurricane to be bad. After all no one expected Katrina to devastate new orleans the way it did until it was too late. So far I think Houston will fair better and mass evacuation only a day before on Houston's traffic schedule is insane. Everyone made the right call this time but people died because of turn around don't drown and a few people thought attics are safer then roofs. Thankfully the death toll won't be in the 1000s like Katrina. People are in trouble but the city will rebuild, there is alot more economic development in Houston vs new Orleans. All in all OP it shouldn't happen but sometimes these disasters occur and no matter how well you plan for it people still die and damage still occurs.

Strip it and lay a new layer.

Since this area is concrete reinforced and the dam will keep filling. This isn't the area were the erosion will be a issue unless there a concrete failure

Harvey's second landfall is projected to be Cameron Parish LA. Cameron is basically water. Calcasieu Parish, directly North, contains Lake Charles, Sulphur, West Lake, and Moss Bluff. Moss Bluff currently looks like Houston and North Lake Charles (dindus) got evacuated last night.
