I am here to tell you hypnotism is real and extremely powerful depending on the subject.
All hypnotists know that most people go throughout their everyday lives in a low level trance state. For example: driving the car to work you will sometimes not even remember making specific turns or driving at all because you were so in tune with how to drive to work.
When in a deep hypnotic state a subject can be given suggestions that the person will follow willingly in an almost dreamlike state. Depending on the person these commands can be extremely complicated and detailed, lasting for years.
When someone extremely susceptible to hypnotism is under their free will can be very similar to the drug scopolamine if anyone is familiar.
When exposed to a trigger sound/word the subject will follow suggestions that have been implanted in their psyche. This can range from telling someone that they love someone in the room to they need to strangle someone next to them. I am not joking when I say a good hypnotist can make a susceptible subject do anything.
This is exactly what sleeper agents are and this is how a lot of fall guys are taken care of for major events like the Colorado movie shooting and some other major school shootings.
The other thing I want to bring to the attention of pol is that I suspect the well known "handlers" of popular female celebrities hypnotize them to some degree. See: weird Britney Spears interview where she changes personalities and her reckless behavior. This reckless behavior is consistent in Spears, Cyrus, Perry and others.

I'm honestly not convinced those are completely real, although they could be. Hypnotism is real and extremely dangerous though. The only way to confirm it for yourself is to have yourself or someone you trust be put under. You cannot fully grasp how powerful it can be unless someone you trust explains it to you or you experience it yourself.

There is a way to remove hypnotic suggestions but it does involve being hypnotized. Therapy can also bring about experiences that were suppressed by hypnotism.
When under, a subject can be told to suppress all memory while being in a hypnotic state or they can be told to remember it. Remembering it sometimes causes more damage because you cannot justify your actions although you know you did it.

Hypnosis is very real, but also has very real limits. The level to which you're suggesting would require regular sessions over years, possibly built on a foundation of abuse, drugs, and textbook Stockholm. Media use techniques that could be considered "hypnotic" in a sense, but this is really somewhat of a misapplication of the term hypnosis. What the media do is to try to bypass your conscious analysis and go straight to your subconscious, but they aren't putting you in an actual trance state. A big misconception about hypnosis is that someone can be hypnotized against their will. The truth is that for you to go into a trance state, you have to do so willingly, allowing your conscious mind to let go. Also, if you are generally distrusting of the media, your subconscious automatically tosses media messages in the mental garbage bin, especially for narratives that you know to be untrue or misleading. Your subconscious mind is not dumb, unless you are already programmed due a lack of critical thinking.

This is all true but one exception. You can hypnotize someone without them wanted it if you can dissociate them. Dissociation comes from so much pain or discomfort that you need to separate from your conscious to bare it. This is where multiple personalities and celebs come in.
