new video gets a clear shot of the woman who was driving the maroon van, which sat blocking the intersection for at least 5 minutes before the accident, despite there being no crowd preventing her from moving.
this video also shows the crowd that got hit being led to the intersection about a minute before the crash occurs. watch the guy in the tan pants and black shirt who is in the alley when the video begins head across the street to direct the march. skip ahead to 8mins if you want to skip the intro part.

Fire department does that when they're dealing with a vehicle that has patients in/around it after an accident. It's a precaution to keep it from rolling away or slipping into gear.
It says junk and salvage but it's possible that it was bought, fixed, and resold. Unscrupulous car dealers do this all the time. Buy a wrecked car and do the bare minimum needed to get it to pass inspection for a salvage title and put it back on the road.

I worked on movie sets and this was what we had the extras do. Lots of movement back and forth. Simple phrases that won't sound out of place for the scenes. The one that hammered it home for me was the girl yelling 'People are dying!'.

I agree, this is going to turn into another Trayvon thing. They could easily convict him of manslaughter for the fatty, as she was hit by the car he hit which had a driver in it. Everything else isn't going to stick, unless he confessed intent it will be impossible to prove, and everything that happened after the initial impact he will get away with as his car was attacked within seconds of the crash. Even if you commit a crime you are not obligated to let the victim's friends assault you, so fleeing the scene (and backing over the people with bats hitting the car) is entirely justified.
