This is just a case of the hurricane threading the needle, equidistant between two high pressure systems. There is zero reason to believe this is climate change related. Furthermore, this is the first major hurricane to hit the US is about 14 years, an unusually low rate. The number of tropical systems (and also hurricanes specifically) to hit the US has had a slight (non-statistically significant) decrease over the past 60 years. I'm an academic in a related field to climate change. If anything, it's decreased my confidence in anything climate scientists say. So much published studies are deeply methodologically flawed, but the general public is conditioned to treat academic journals as gospel. There is a huge incentive individually and as a field for climate scientists to publish weak results, overfit data, use unethical practices, and at times alter data.
