I had a ThinkPad for ages and I finally switched to a MacBook. They're not perfect, but they're fucking amazing by comparison. Everyone complaining about the price is an idiot—similarly-priced Windows laptops are generally trash. Over a year later and this thing is worth almost what I paid for it, while any previous laptop I've owned, however expensive, was worthless, both functionally and in terms of used value. The only thing I ever hear against Macs is

I used to be skeptical about macs until I recieved one for Xmas. Now I got fucking annoyed when I have to use a normal pc due to that windows bullshit. What's funny though is how windows 10 tries to imitate mac's functionality but you're still stuck having to wait for the damn pc to load up whereas a mac will instantly boot up the moment that you flip the screen up.

The ironic thing is, by using the white laptop over black ThinkPads, they're admitting that white is the superior color in relation to beauty.
Apple is also the only company that truly gives a shit about privacy. Within the company there's a lot of frustration about those restrictions from machine learning engineers and data scientists who are used to carte blanche access to everything at other companies. At Apple there are SJW types in Privacy that lock all of that down. In the end, it hamstrings certain ML efforts but is very attractive from a customers perspective (for those customers that care).
I've been a windows user since 1993 and have never owned an Apple product. I had to get a MacBook Pro due to new policies at work and holy shit is the build quality better than any laptop I've ever had before.
With other manufacturers it's always clear that they cut corners in order to hit certain price points. Asus laptops 3/5 good and 2/5 shit. Like they might have great performance but a garbage screen and speakers. Or they have a good screen, but are made of plastic and flimsy as fuck.
The Macbook pro is the first laptop I ever had that didn't cut corners anywhere. Even the hinges are solid as fuck and smooth as butter.
OS 10 is pretty alright too, its kinda like a locked down version of linux that doesn't break randomly.
Overpriced hardware that you invalidate the warranty as soon as you open and cannot upgrade.
No GFX card either in crapbooks.

I work with Macs (books or mini) everyday and would rather have a PC at home, as the hardware isn't that good given the price and the system is on a downward spiral of bugginess since OSX 10.7

I am writing this on a macbook that i found after someone threw it away thinking it was broken. Took me 5 minutes to fix it, was almost 2k USD when new.
its honestly 1 of the worst systems ive ever encountered. the only good thing about it is the metal chassis. I really like that. But when i opened it up; it was filled with cheap samsung & other competitors hardware.
I bought an ASUS laptop earlier this year to work on, because getting used to apples totalitarian control over my HUD and UI is completely impossible for me. And im not going to pay 1500 USD for some software i can download for free on my laptop.
I would never buy 1 myself, but when it cost me nothing except the upgrades i put in (SSD, 8gig RAM etc) it is worth it.
