This is reminding me unpleasantly of the fabled Oakland Hills fire. That one came to within a 1/4 mile of my house. What stopped it? A fucking cemetery. A huge, very old cemetery with an excellent sprinkler system and two huge reservoirs separate from city water (and therefore unaffected by pressure issues hampering firefighting efforts elsewhere.) The last thing the caretaker did before leaving was turn EVERYTHING on full blast.
I walked along the road at the top of the cemetery a couple of days later. On one side of the road, green and lush. On the other--dead black. Everywhere. Disturbing as fuck.

This is why I hate Sup Forums. LA is not burning. This is La Tuna canyon, a notoriously dry patch on the other side of the mountains in Burbank. There are frequent brush fires and this one spread over the mountain and now threatens some homes in the hills.
Burbank is not LA. Burbank is it's own city. It was 105 degrees in Burbank today, common for this time of year.
