Had a row with my wife when drunk recently, ended up with her attacking me and me defensively beating her off, she came off much worse as she half the size.
Police came, I admitted what happened, guy was very understanding. Asked if he was going to nick me he spoke to my wife, and she apologized and said she started it, and the guy said 'nah just sleep it off', so basically the policeman told me to drink drive to my parents house where I slept the night.
Few days after he rang me, and then my wife, and asked if we're ok now. We both said yeah. End of story.
That was the only real dealing I've had with the police, and it was fine.
