Looking back, it was a better time. We still thought we had problems, but nothing like today. Perhaps OBL indeed won

No, it wasn't. We were all just oblivious. Most people here didn't start to wake up until after or because of 9/11

the patriot act was the most fascist thing that could have been done in response to 9/11. all your civil liberties eroded and the state could deport you to a black site prison without so much as a judges order.

Alec Guiness knows.

Life and energy was throttled before and then after. 9/11 was a trauma based mass hypnosis to bring our level of conciousness down.

i was a little kid then but remember it will, but the fact is i was a little kid and everything is better when youre a kid

My dad was carried off a plane by two cops, he had drank a carton on the flight and also had an oz of weed in his pants,.. the 90s were great.

Literately (not the meme) everything was at least twice better except for the internet and access to hq porn.

Degeneracy was certainly less, none of this identity politics, people were scared of Y2K. Gulf War 1 was the big war at the time. Internet was in it's infancy, downloaded porn on 56k modem.

99 through 2001 in Houston. Dance clubs all over downtown. I always get past the velvet rope because bouncers remember me from clubs in the early nineties. Pussy everywhere, walk onto dance floor and get "chosen" by chicks who back up against and grind their asses against my crotch. My bedroom has a revolving door on it. Dating two or three different women at the same time. Fast and furious is summer 2001's biggest movie. Have a Honda Prelude with a sport exhaust, fit body and shaved head. Chicks pull up next to me on highway looking to get my number.

Bunch of ass holes think it's a good idead to blow up the WTC. Buildings come down, party ends. Houston night life never recovered, end up getting back with a girl from my college days and only fuck her.

>Internet was in it's infancy,
Downloading music was what the internet was for back then. Napster and then Morpheus.

I was born in 1985. Pre-9/11 was a great time. Of course, being objective, nostalgia has a way of making people only remember the good times. But the country felt more together and more united. The fringe groups were always there but without social media, it wasn't as loud. There was this real sense of being proud to be an American and that America was on top. It felt like we were riding the high crest of a wave...the good times. Everything became darker after 9/11 and we, as a country, have become more paranoid and more divided ever since. It's reaching a fever pitch lately and I am not sure we will ever get back to the feelings of knowing that you were alive during those happy times.

>America goes retarded and wastes money on a useless war in Iraq instead of spending it on something useful like paying down the debt or healthcare.

life was better then, looking back on the nineties, Sound Garden's Black hole sun seemed fitting in 1994 but now even those days were far better than now.

What did 9/11 have to do with your sex life?

Life was way better. We were blissfully ignorant of the demographic explosion that was already too far gone to be stopped. Still lived amongst 80-90% legacy Americans.

Yes, just look at the stunned disbelief people are in during 9/11 interviews, like they could never imagine a terrorist attack occurring in civilized society when now they happen across the West almost daily.

There was no candlelight vigil and virtue signalling then. There was no mass of people rushing to the internet to spout hollow platitudes about "Not all Muslims". The world has gone cucked and the West lost its unbridled confidence as well as its innocence that day.

For me it ruined the party atmosphere that made it possible to so easily tag women. The whole country was in a limbo for about a week. President Bush went on TV a few days later and encouraged people to go out and buy things so the economy wouldnt crash. Gas prices actually fell after 911.

Haha, great story Mark.

You could go to the airport and meet your party at the GATE.

You could take a bottle of soda with you on the plane and not have to have a cavity search.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Clean_Break:_A_New_Strategy_for_Securing_the_Realm
>A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm (commonly known as the "Clean Break" report) is a policy document that was prepared in 1996 by a study group led by Richard Perle for Benjamin Netanyahu, the then Prime Minister of Israel.[1] The report explained a new approach to solving Israel's security problems in the Middle East with an emphasis on "Western values." It has since been criticized for advocating an aggressive new policy including the removal of Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and the containment of Syria by engaging in proxy warfare and highlighting its possession of "weapons of mass destruction".

Sorry norbro. Most of them are legit links.

>I am 19 and was too young to remember what it was like.
You really missed out.

the movie 12 monkeys was a good representation of what life was like before 9/11. It is also a good representation of life in 2040.

I think people have warm memories about pre-2001 is not so much because policies really changed but that was about the time demographics really hit the tipping point in Canada and the US (not sure about Europe). For example Canada was still over 90% white in the 90s and the US was over 80% white....Now Canada is 70% and the US is sixty-something, that is a massive demographics shift in less than a generation

It was better, but the cracks were already beginning to show. The militia movement really took off after Ruby Ridge and Waco. Had things continued as they were, McVeigh and Kaczynski might have ended up looking small-time.

Fortunately totally-not-CIA-or-Mossad terrorists brought the Twin Towers down and anybody who questioned the government was branded unpatriotic and subjected to brutal zerzetzung if not disappeared to black sites!

It was amazing.

I certainly remember it that way. I grew up on the East Coast and then moved away for many years post-9/11. My wife and I had a baby in California but just moved back to near where we grew up for my work. The town we live in has >40% Asians in the 0-4 age range our daughter is in and ~40% white. It's like I was gone for 10 years and moved back to a place where I'm a stranger. It makes me feel depressed and like I don't know why the fuck I had a kid... what kind of life will she have in this shit fucking country that I don't want to live in anymore myself. And this is all she'll ever know and by the time she is an adult it will be literally a white minority and a completely different country from the one where I was born. I think a lot about pre-9/11 days and I wish I could go back.

This is the path America was on before right wing retards got their Chosen One, Trump 1.0 aka Bush

I was 12 at the time. It actually felt like a wake up call from all the stupid crap we as a country had been doing. Too bad we hit snooze.

I was a kid in the '90s and I remember "war" being this distant, almost fantasy-like concept. When people spoke of "war" it was always Omaha beach and the Blitz. Certain death basically, with your home being shelled and there being no semblance of ordinary daily life. I had no concept of a limited war at all. So when 9/11 happened and it was clear there would be war I was scared as fuck.

But anyway, there was a strong sense of contentment, confidence, and self-satisfaction in America in the '90s. We had won the Cold War and there were no more enemies, we had the whole world behind us and no one could touch us diplomatically, militarily, or economically (since Japan had gone down the shitter and China was still a third world shithole). The confidence seems smug in hindsight but it really didn't feel smug at the time. Ideas like "The End of History" (1992 book) were common and pervasive. The existential "threats" in the public psyche were never other people or other ideologies or domestic instability or anything of the sort. We feared aliens and the government.

The government was a much, much bigger meme back then. Think of how the Agents are portrayed in The Matrix. And like MIB, 007, etc. And the OK City bombing. The government was this all-knowing, all-powerful entity which controlled the whole world. In the years since 9/11 the government has been shown to be incompetent, weak, unaware, corrupt, easily influenced, etc. Basically it's a joke now. But it was treated with reverence and even awe back before 9/11. The ordinary American tended to believe that nothing happened anywhere on planet Earth without the US government knowing and having a hand in it.

I think that's the biggest difference between then and now. Kids who are too young to remember the '90s must have no concept of a legitimate government that was taken deathly seriously.

He took money out of Social Security to get the budget like that..now we're further in debt and SSI is in trouble.

Humans were still functional, because the internet wasn't mainstream enough yet.

internet was better back then up through 2004-2006.

Everything went to shit after that.

I remember desert storm where all the white people were patriotic and shit. I also used to buy gun and ammo magazines that had book advertisements warning of the new world order. I wish I would have ordered those books.

Dealing with the airport was a lot better...

No he didn't. Right wing retards just made that up because they're triggered that Based Bill Clinton balanced the budget. A President can't just take money out of Social Security. Where do u retards come up with this fake news?

We had true Freedom of Speech. We could call everyone fags, gay, nigger and it was all good. Race relations were at their best during the 90's. A good indicator to me was the fusion of the Rap/Rock scene that came along. The Family Values Tours with rappers and rockers together was the pinacle of the end of racism in that era. We didn't need a nigger in the white house to show racism was over. All we needed was a negro on a microphone and a long haired white guy on a guitar.

Back then, the greatest threat to America was a loud-mouthed white boy rapper, transvestite rocker, and all boy bands. There were only two sexes: boy and girl. You could tell by their genitals. Illegal immigration was annoying spics that wanted jobs but not the dangerous human traffickers and cartels of our time crossing. We had problems but we didn't have the huge amount of challenges to the norms we have today. People challenged religion, politics, corporatism. They didn't challenge the core of the human species: gender identity, family, racial makeup, culture, and accomplishments.

5:42 If God willed, He would have made you one nation, but that he may test you in what He has given you; so strive as in a race in good deeds.

2:193 But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against wrong-doers.

4:90 So if they remove themselves from you and do not fight you and offer you peace, then God has not made for you a cause against them.

5:82 You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews and the pagans,
and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.

I remember when I used to give a fuck about the deficit. Now I hope the whole fucking government goes tits up. Who fucking cares if the government is solvent now? It's basically a racket for handing out welfare to foreigners and people who hate me.

Got taken up to the cockpit on multiple flights, got to play around altering course on 747-400 using the autopilot
could take my swiss army knife and nailclippers on planes

Circular logic.

He still took money out of SS.

This

Chans were the internet cultural norm back then, before the internet got corporatized and made palatable for normies.

We used to shit on DIY geocities pages thrown together by random hobbyists. Now I miss them.

I understand what you're saying although it's difficult to articulate. My experience seems similar to yours. The dynamics of all that youthful fun has changed. We exchanged playfulness for political correctness, and the politics of today are the worst I've ever seen. Not sure if we're 1968-tier but we could be.

I was 26 on 911.

We weren't as hyper aware of international terrorism. Bush was seen as a bad idea until 911, then people loved him. That only lasted a few years though.

It was cool to see the entire world be so pro America right after 911. That's definitely a major change since "the war on terror" proved to be such a shit show.

It was very different. But it was also a different time for other reasons. The 1990s were a very peaceful and chill time for most people in America and Europe.

>post image showing economic upturn began in 1992.
>ignore the fact that Bush Sr. was still president until Jan. 20th of 2013, meaning it's actually thanks based Bush Sr.

Kek.

shark attacks and shark hysteria

Tbf I lived in the NYC metro and we were well aware that the Twin Towers were a target of mudslime terrorists. I commuted through WTC every day the summer of 2001 and always got out as quickly as I could. When I heard about the planes hitting the tower I knew instantly it was a mudslime terror plot.

>ignore the fact that Bush Sr. was still president until Jan. 20th of 2013

right wing retards are this mentally retarded

Nah it was still shit, people didn't even talk realpolitik because they were mostly clueless. Consider yourself lucky.

No he didn't. You retards just made this up.

9/11 Didn't change much. The internet changed everything.

Before the internet, murders, terrorist attacks (although 9/11 was a record breaker), blacks getting whacked, all that shit still happened.

The main difference was that traditional media still had a monopoly on information, so you never really saw how ugly shit really was. Imagine if all the Buzzfeeds literally controlled everything you knew about the world, you really would think it was perfect except for a few bad apples here and there. Not to say the world is shit in my eyes, but you gotta accept it for what it is.

Kek, try harder Obamaleaf.

Here's the bill chart poster

This is an excellent point. Bliss is ignorance

>ignore the fact that Bush Sr. was still president until Jan. 20th of 2013

The rest of the world went from
1. Slight indifference/minor resentment towards US
2. 100% have your backs, how could those scums do this
3. Fuck America, they think they can do what they like, hated by international community

all within 5 years, rollercoaster alright. They should have spend all that goodwill a little better tho

>>ignore the fact that Bush Sr. was still president until Jan. 20th of 2013

>2013

I was 31 in 2001. Things were a lot simpler then, or at least it feels that way, I think 9/11 was to us what the start of WWI was to the early 20th century. It represents a pivot point at which a generation lost its collective innocence.

>focusing on a typo because your point got rekt.

This is all Obamaleaf has ever been. He uses extremely manipulative graphics to try and make people believe shit that is patently untrue. Examples go from his tax break graph that uses total amounts rather than statistical rates.

And so he always breaks down in to really dumb typo bullshit.

>ignore the fact that Bush Sr. was still president until Jan. 20th of 2013

>ignore the fact that Bush Sr. was still president until Jan. 20th of 2013

Obamaleaf operates purely on attrition. It's why he's still posting the typo rather than dealing with the fact that his point was utterly destroyed by his own image.

Don't fall for the bait, user. No one cares about typos. They care about getting a rise out of you

this place is in ruins

The deficit got worse under Reagan and under Bush Sr. Not to mention it was a total fucking disaster under Bush Jr.

Based Bill balanced the budget with tax hikes on the rich and Republicans pissed it away the moment they got the chance.

he forgot to flip proxy

>old browsers were only able to open one tab at a time
I miss it lads

Go binge-watch Northern Exposure.
That was what was considered by the mainstream as "alternative".
Everything pre-9/11 seems so naive and hopeful.

I remember those days.

Shiet that was rough.

>ignore the fact that Bush Sr. was still president until Jan. 20th of 2013

As a kid, the neighborhood kids and I would get together after school and play football in whomever's backyard, and we'd drink out of hoses to cool down.
If you wanted to play multiplayer, you had to play split screen in the same room as each other.
The internet was barely even a thing. My friends and I would go on funnyjunk to watch things like that Papa Smurf music video, End of Zeh World, and other pre-historic memes.
If someone called your house, the internet would go out.
VHS tapes were little rectangular boxes that has film in them that you had to rewind every time you played.

People like to use 9/11 as the dividing line of "then and now", but that's the not the case.

The iPhone in 2007 is the dividing line. That + the rise of social media gave way to the shitshow we currently live in.

If 9/11 never happened, the iPhone and facebook still would have.

>immediately shifts the argument because he can't deal with what was said.

Your graph shows the turn around began under Bush. There was literally no change under Clinton from what was established in Bush Sr.'s final year. Your own graphic shows this. Thanks for that, can't wait to use it repeatedly to blow the fuck out of your fellow retarded libs.

I wasn't going for, nor do I use a proxy you dumb nigger.

for sure. we need to ascend to 4th and 5th density. They don't want us to.

I'll go one further, I'll tell you what it was like growing up in the early 1970's...

1. In the morning, you "went out to play." Where you went and what you did, your parents didn't want to know, as long as you were home for dinner.

2. No computers, no cell phones, no video games. Once we left the house, no one had a way of getting a hold of you.

3. No cable TV, so only 3 networks (ABC, CBS, NBC), and when it rained the picture went to shit.

4. High school boys spending their senior year worrying that they would be drafted and sent to vietnam.

5. Contrary to the rumor, not all music was great. But there was so much of it, you could always find something good to put on the record player.

6. The media could be trusted, and so could the President, at least until 1973.

7. We ate peanut butter, we drank water from the hose, we played darts with real metal points, every boy carried a pocket knife.

8. Everyone's parents chained smoked. If you were unlucky enough to travel cross state to visit relatives on Christmas, you were trapped in the back seat amid a cloud of solid smoke.

>If someone called your house, the internet would go out.

Not having two lines, kek

Good point.

In other words, giving widespread access of normies to the internet.

Not only does Clinton not take office until 1993, but his first fiscal year doesn't happen until fall of 93, and largely isn't in effect until 94, well into the upward trend. This graph just fucked up your whole narrative Obamaleaf.

Terrorism didn't exist in the public conscious, I didn't even know what a Muslim was till that day.

Based Bill Clinton raised taxes and revenues went up. Wtf is so hard for u to understand about this?

Why are you ignoring the 12 years of Reagan/Bush massive budget deficits?

Lol are you actually this fucking retarded? You're getting massacred here.

The turnaround? AHAHHAAHAHA THE TURNAROUND? The turnaround from 12 years of REagan/Bush deficits started in 1993 when Based Bill raised taxes on the rich? AHHAHAHHA YOU FUCKING RETARD

I remember about how the AOL ads here hyped me for the internet
shitty 56k modem
AOL never really worked for me so i had to use some DIal UP manager to browse stuff
just downloading porn trailers in horrible quality with i think the "Free download manager"?
and all the sites looked pretty nerdy and clunky

Lol you're such a fucking retard that you don't know that in 1994 you do your taxes for 1993. How fucking retarded are you?

You already btfo yourself. Turnaround from 12 YEARS OF REAGAN/BUSH DEFICITS AHHAHAHHAAHH

you could go to any airport and get on a plane w a big old bottle of shampoo, shoes on etc. no frisking. ... but now this is ok. pic related.

They had literally bombed the WTC 8 years earlier and killed like a dozen people

Government seemed better. Emphasis on "seemed". Less blatantly invasive and people trusted eachother more and weren't as paranoid.
