Very few people in the US are in prison due to drugs. The majority of inmates (about 3/4ths) are imprisoned for crimes related to violence. Even more for crimes related to weapons or serious thefts.

Literally a myth. Look at the people Obama pardoned - they were almost entirely drug-DEALERS who had also been caught with illegal weapons and had other crimes on their records. That's how hard it is to find the mythical nonviolent drug offender in prison these days.
