I don't know if you can. I have grown to appreciate many aspects of the faith but most of those aspects I find most appealing are from a time gone by. Todays church has liberalized to such an extent that it is destroying itself. Furthermore the people of today are locked into a materialistic view of the world. One of my biggest personal struggles is to cast of the shackles of materialism and orient myself toward God. It not easy and throws you at odds with the modern world when you try to divorce yourself from materialism, its not something the average person is going to do. I don't think you can bring the masses back but what the church can do is abandon all attempts at liberalization and focus on the core conservative parts of the faith. Better to have a few who truly believe then a large number of fair weather Christians.
