To any fags in this cunt's path, do the following- Take as much water and fill your fridge with as much of it as possible, in containers. Put as much ice(and water that will turn to ice obviously) as you can in your freezer. Pack em like a cooler. The idea is to put as much liquid and solid as possible that, while your fridge is still running will have the heat energy sucked out of it. You can also use frozen water by melting it, duh.
The more you can pack in, the colder your fridder-frader will stay if the power goes out. As it takes a lot more heat energy to rewarm the stuff inside if it's liquid or better yet, solid. Be careful to vent any containers with water if you put them in the freezer due to expansion. A small hole in the top of a milk jug for example.
Questionable water can be made sterile to drink using plain old bleach. A small amount, say about 1/4 - 1/5 a soda bottle cap in volume can be added to about a gallon of H2O(technically, 1ml or 1cc of 6% sodium hypochlorite solution aka bleach to 4 liters of water). Shake and allow the container to sit open for about an hour, and you won't get the shits.
Also, make sure all electrics are on surge protectors. Transformers WILL blow, and these can send hard surges through the lines, even with modern protectors on the grid. Never assume the power company has your ass covered.
Finally, want sand bags? Live in Florida? You're in luck! Small trash bags make great ghetto sand bags if you're willing to shovel grit for an hour of so. You'll wanna wet the sand down with a hose once it's in the bag. This drives out the air and keeps the bag from becoming buoyant in water. Not much water mind you. Just damp. Make sure there's no air pockets in the bags when you tie them off. Also, double bag for toughness.
