don't take false hope in a rise of conservatism; canada is lost. it would require active undoing of the consequences of the last 20 years, meaning violent conflict, which is not something anyone is near ready to enact. there is no party or government faction that cares about putting natural born canadians who adhere to classical canadian culture first.
on the 150th anniversary of canada, the prime minister released a statement that immigrants are more canadian than those born here. everyone in government has hedged their bets on the side of wealthy international citizens who at most dabble in token canadian traditions. most don't speak fluent english or french, and there is no need to. the letter of the law preserves the rights of "underrepresented minorities", which translates to meaning anyone but straight white men. most people willingly adhere to the culture of putting those supposedly disadvantaged people first, and it being made law means that even those who wouldn't kowtow now will out of fear of liability.
the only people who have any power are the wealthy in toronto who don't have to worry about the negative consequences of the state of things.
