I've been thinking a lot about this, and have started to somewhat argue against the pretentious tradcon who clutches his hands to his head whenever he hears an electronic instrument.
I think that those composers who make use of synthesisers (Isao Tomita, Wendy Carlos; Mike Oldfield, to an extent) aren't betraying the onward march of the Western mindset half as much as those who limit music in the Western tradition to stuffy old people in suits.
