I just started researching as much as I could. Started off with P2P loans and it's been one of my most consistantly profitable investment to date. currently averaging 13.22% apr on the Prosper platform after refining my strategy over the last 4 years. I also Have quite a bit of stock, which has been rough over the last year, especially because of the crash in commodity and oil prices which is only now starting to recover. I've been trying to shift cash into things like high dividend paying REITs (just picked up some MPW @ 6% yield) and hedging with some gold exposure with GLD and PHYS. When I'm at work I've got google finance up on my 2nd monitor constantly.
played around with FOREX trading for a bit, but it's not for the faint of heart, especially that one time I accidentally leveraged over 100k in a single trade because I typed an extra zero. don't do that. I never managed to be consistantly profitable, better to own dividend paying stock that you don't need to watch like a hawk all the time, something like CLX, or LMT, or PEP. FUN is another one I own quite a bit of, no international exposure which is fantastic when all your global industrial tank every time someone farts in china
