One thing I've really enjoyed about Delta threads so far is watching the reactions of people who are watching SDF, 7, Plus, and Frontier for the first time. It fills me with a sense of innocence, happiness, and appreciation. I'm glad that all of you are getting into Macross. I hope that Delta is enjoyable for everyone.

It was actually AKB0048 that finally made me get off my assignment and watch Macross, all of it. What a ride.

Every time I watch an episode of delta I feel like watching 7. It's the only macross I didn't watch, but the length keeps putting me off

Watched DYRL a couple weeks ago, Plus two days ago, and marathoner Frontier yesterday and today.
I seem to have a habit of picking losing girls.

I was initially watching this because i bought a YF-19 plamo on a whim in a hobby store but then i ended up watching and staying here just for the music and the girls.

I'm liking Delta so far. I'm digging the character design and the VFs but somehow i feel that something about Delta is just a bit weaker than the others.

I almost want to see Macross Delta as a modern setting J-drama about an idol group Walkure, their production company NUNS, and their dance squad Delta. I would miss having the mecha porn but you could keep the character drama while ditching the weirder sci-fi metaplot which I always felt were Macross's weak points (Looking at you Macross 7).

I'm liking Delta because it's not that. It's not about Walkure, they are just part of the framework of the setting which makes it come across better than how I originally thought it would be.

It's got a lot more characters to introduce in a much shorter time-frame. Previous series didn't really start humanizing the "enemy" until much later.

It's also not set within a single ship/fleet, so you're almost always jumping around to new planets and locales. Combined together this makes the show feel more "rushed" with less breathing room than the previous series.

You never get a chance to "wind down" with a lower intensity conversation because you're frequently jumping back towards the sinister Windemeran plotline.

Is this supposed to be what rushed feels like? Because I thought the pacing over the last 5 episodes was pretty good. And I mean when it comes to winding down that was pretty much all of episode 5 wasn't it?

To me Macross is all about the love triangle and the theme of finding love and normalcy during wartime which is part of it's space opera roots. The drama and emotional conflicts always reminds me of a J-drama or shojou series I think the story would transition well to an alternate setting .

I like the lore but I hate it when it takes the main stage rather than being a supporting piece. I'm a believer that the quality of a piece is inversely proportional to the number of made up words in it.
