I always thought Nanami was fairly boring, but that early on at least, she was sweet enough and cute enough to make up for it.
She deteriorated badly later, though I still liked her and I think she had one of the manga's best moments

Polnareff was the only MC with a proper development in SC though.

The story is always shit in these manga anyway but Nanami was great indeed even though the design is a huge part of my appreciation

I think she's one of the cutest girls he ever created. It's a pity he didn't seem to know what to do with her past chapter 70, and phased her out pretty badly

He's more like a piece of furniture than a character.

He a somewhat well developed character, it's just that he's a very quiet character, and there's a bunch of people to steal his spotlight in Part 5. Case in point, the big fight between two antagonists, with nary a protagonist in sight.

I think he's been developed a bit too much. He used to have flaws like a short temper and emotional instabilities, but now he's much more confident and sure of himself. I mean, it's nice to see, but he's went a bit too far in my opinion.

I think the problem's less that he was developed, and more that he suffers a bit from being pulled out of his home environment.
The way he interacted with other characters in his hometown highlighted his personality traits, but the further it got into saving the world territory, the more he just interacts with people like a basic shonen hero

Never understood why people liked her. She offers nothing. I know people hated Asuka because she's an easy character to hate, but liking Rei just to spite Asuka is just being a contrarian hipster. Rei is just bland in every way, she's not entertaining and not even interesting which was disappointing. Even Yuki Nagato is a million times superior to Rei
