Excellent story, fantastic setting. Animation ranges from decent to incredible.
The MC's development is weak and unfocused. There's some average mid series filler episodes that drag the story down.
Overall it's extremely above average; a must watch anime.

There is also a short manga series (3 volumes or a single kazenban) but it wasn't scanlated except for the first chapters as far as I know.
