But in regard to your first one, it could be argued that homosexuality has been suppressed for such a long time that it never really did breed itself out because gay people were socially forced into straight relationships. So the evolution aspect, while it makes complete sense, might not apply.

Well that is one of the proplems I find with homosexuality, if a guy has some good traits he will be able to share them but does not.
