As for the figures from the OP, I'm guessing the first ranking number represents the current ranking, while the second ranking number represents the ranking from an hour ago. The points and reservations I guess are derived from some service other than Amazon, but if they're of no relevance then I don't understand why they're listed. Why would something higher in the Amazon rankings (again, using Re:Zero as an example) have less than half the points of something below it (Jojo, again)?

This is about a website that uses an algorithm bases on relative amazon preorder ranking positions to try to predict a given anime volumes first week sales by assigning arbitrary point values based on what ranks it has on a given day and how long it holds those ranks.
I'm saying people like to dick wave and start shit over seasonal anime that usually sell in low numbers that max out around 10K at the absolute highest. Didn't think it was that hard to understand but for the kind of geniuses that post in these threads it probably is
How accurate is the algorithm? Because pre-orders and actual sells from the first week are two very different things

By the time it was on it's 3rd volume and dropped the event tickets it was averaging maybe 6K BD and DVD combined and we're talking majorly hype marketed Key/Aniplex/P.A Works shit here. Mayoiga will probably sell horribly seeing as it has zero otaku cred branding attached to it. I'm not sure I find either worth writing home about unless this is just to shitpost.
It really isn't accurate at all. Maybe when the BD/DVD is only two weeks away and even then it gets fucked by shit like the storefront effect.
Significantly less so the higher things rank, the earlier and the longer as well as for stuff that has comparatively early release dates compared to other things which usually results in overestimates. Also it shits itself on anything that has major storefront sales like Love Live or things that are marketed to fujos usually resulting in underestimates. Generally I consider anything within 10% a fair and common margin of error for Stalker.
