For people who have watched 100 plus episode shows that you didn't start as a kid, how did you watch it? Binged until completion? Or did you take it slow and watched one or two episodes a day?
For people who have watched 100 plus episode shows that you didn't start as a kid, how did you watch it...
A few episodes at a time, between seasonal anime. If you watch it all at once you don't have time to really let certain parts sink in
marathon that shit on weekends
i watch mostly everything airing every season, when i'm caught up i watch a show from my backlog. so usually like 2 episodes every night or every other night.
the last time i binged a long series i watched like 24 episodes of ranma in a day
For Hokuto no Ken I watched it anywhere from 2 to 7 episodes at a time.
For Dragon Ball sometimes I spent entire days watching -- I might rewatch again soon too.
8-9 bursts of 10-15 episodes, always pause on a season finale. Usually 1 season/week
This is a good fucking question. I can't even get myself to start HxH simply because of knowing it's over 100 episodes.
>100
Fuck me that's when I didn't know that the 2011 wasn't a sequel
I will say, OP, if you're watching Hokuto no Ken/Fist of the North Star, avoid the movie retelling with Rei and Jagi. It's not nearly as good as the anime telling and it moves things around to try and make Jagi look competent.
Also it's probably the best Shonen ever. You WILL cry a lot of manly tears.
It took me 4 months to watch LotGH. Which is weird since I watched Star Trek Deep Space 9 in about half the time, and that shit's about 130 hours long
>You WILL cry a lot of manly tears
I thought MGS3 had a sad ending.
I though Mother 3 had an extremely sad ending.
HnK's ending and Toki v Raoh blew both away by a mile.
Managed to catch up to Gintama and finish LotGH but it took like two years.
Don't wanna start HxH because i dont want it to end up taking that long.
Is this a feels thread now?
>Had surgery when in high school
>Told to home rest for 2 weeks
>Watch fight of one piece on youtube recommendations way back when he just got to the all female island
>was curious as fuck why he was so fast
>didn't know what gear 2nd was
>decide to watch from very beginning
>was only going to watch til that fight
>500+ episodes and 2 weeks later
>now enamored with the crew
>read manga now cause toei's getting way too fucking lazy
And thats the story of how I became a faggot
Was it worth it?
Binged LoGH and HxH within a week or two, but Gintama I watched in short bursts. I still watched it during a fairly short period of time, maybe a couple of months, I can't stand things staying in my backlog for too long.
I used to binge but that lead to me being starved for shows to watch or worse complete burn out.
I mostly just still to a few episodes of various shows a week. It takes longer to get through series that go over 100 episodes but at least I never have the issues I used too.
Depends on the show. If it's plot driven and moves at a reasonable pace I'll do 10-20~ eps a weekend. If it's more episodic I'll watch 1-2 eps per night during the weekdays when there's nothing else I want to do available.
>I can't stand things staying in my backlog for too long
How do you do it, sensei? I've had things in my backlog for 5~ years at this point. I watch way too much seasonal shit which can be hit or miss, though I'm enjoying this season.
ep a day or two, sometimes with breaks
logh took me half a year
watch 1 or 2 on work/school days while eating
and binge watch whenever there's a day with neither (usually 3-5 depending on what else to do that day)
Usually 2 or 3 a day, sometimes binge on the weekend.
how is that any different from watching two 50 episode shows?
Usually binge a shitload of episodes in a row. Then I don't watch it for like a month. Repeat until finished.
Or if there's a manga that's usually the easier way to get caught up. It took me months to get halfway through the HxH anime, but only a few days to get fully caught up from there with the manga.
Well, for those series in particular I loved them so much I just wanted to watch them. But making the process more organized and methodical works for me. I like feeling as if I'm ticking off a checklist so I've divided my backlog folder up into 1 cour/2 cours/3+ cours, and I start from the shorter series and move onwards.
Originally I made the mistake of trying to marathon Galaxy Express 999 but it's far too repetitive for such a thing considering a lot of episodes follow the same formula, then again I guess it depends on how hot blooded a series is for me enough to marathon or how much I've already invested in the characters or their dilemmas.
I didn't have anything for quite some time that left me hungry for more after every chapter/episode.
The greatest thing is finding some manga that has a large amount of chapters and doing nothing but reading it a couple of days till you catched up or finished it.
I straight up marathoned it.
But it was hunter x hunter and both fma so maybe that is why I was able to do it.
If I don't marathon a long show then I'll lose momentum as soon as I start downloading other shows to break the monotony. I end up putting it off until I forget exactly what was going on, which further discourages me. All that progress wasted.
think of it as watching it in increments of 10, 15, or 25 episodes. if its gintama, count down eps until you hit an arc. eventually you'll be immersed
Of the few 100+ shows I've seen I tend to binge watch for a couple of days followed having a break for a couple of days
I have also started watching a few 50 ep shows 1 ep a week as if it were airing now and that's been enjoyable.
Binged Gintama, LOGH, Fist of the North Star, Jojo (manga, but it's long enough), and Hajime no Ippo (also manga).
I took breaks between each season of Sailor Moon, although whenever I picked it up again I'd usually binge the season.
I'm in the middle of Detective Conan (manga) right now and have taken a break about two months ago.
I started watching One Piece when it had like 350 episodes.
My technique was watch from 3 to 5 at a time, of course some parts deserved more episodes.
i think i reached the last episode (at the time) in a month or so
I binged until right before the climax of the first bleach arc (110+ eps) in like a week. I dropped it right before the finale because whatever I was watching it on didn't have any more episodes. I don't plan to go back.

It really depends on how much free time I have and what mood I am in.
When I was watching Dragon Ball I was taking it slowly, two episodes a day with sometimes skipping a day, because I had very busy Winter last year. But by the time I got to Piccolo Jr. saga (roughly second half of May, just a year ago) I was completely free and marathoned entire saga and finished it in two days (I had to make a break, so it was like +20 episodes marathon - break - remaining episodes marathon).
Just watching couple of episodes daily is a good practice, but it won't get you far. Just find free time and hopefully get into the right mood and you'll accomplish more.

There were many shows that were unavailable to me in my country at the time, and even when they were I wouldn't have been able to rent/buy the few VHS/DVDs available.
Later on YTV did show very few anime from time to time, but the schedule was completely fucked. They would skip seasons weekly, then start back at the beginning while missing whole episodes. Being a Canadafag sucked for anime.
That being said, aren't the best series the short lived ones?
>there will never be a character like raoh or rei ever again
It hurts.
I'm currently watching one episode of red jacket Lupin at one episode a day. I just got to episode fifty which was pretty hardcore.
When I watched One Piece I would just watch a shitload of episodes because I enjoyed it so much, and I'd force myself to take breaks so I didn't go through it too quickly. I remember watching Baratie in a day, same with Arlong Park.
Even though I was a NEET it still took me a year to get caught up, it was just starting Marineford when I did. Shounen anime is good because the overall plot doesn't progress that quickly, but the individual ones do. It's easy as hell to watch 10 episodes of an arc in a day because every single episode ends on a cliffhanger and you don't want to wait.
I find the first 20-25 episodes of long series to be a bit of a hump, but after getting into the rhythm it starts to fly by.
It took me 3 years to finish logh
