Sakura's big problem is that she's more a plot device than an actual character in F/SN. She exists to put HF Shirou in the very specific circumstances needed to decide to throw away his ideals, and beyond that just doesn't have much to her because most of the important stuff between her and Shirou happened before the game even started.

With Saber and Rin, they only really meet Shirou once the game gets started so Nasu had to spend time developing their relationships with him. With Sakura, she's just The Childhood Friend. A huge part of her character is how she's been a fixture in Shirou's life ever since they first met, and that's something that canmt be conveyed to the reader at all beyond having, I don't know, an entire game prior where she appears at the beginning of every single day to chat with Shirou. And nobody should have to tell you how silly that would be.

A lot of Sakura's character only really becomes apparent in F/HA. In F/SN proper she mostly just exists to be pitied. Carnival Phantasm even joked about it.

Sometimes I wonder if everyone in these threads only argue like this because it reminds them of better days, and because they have become closer emotionally through their arguments than most people ever become even with their spouses.

Then I remember it's a Fate thread, and look upon the shitposts with glee.

This is a genuine problem with her character.

Theoretically, Shirou should be invested most with Sakura, because he's known her so long, but the reader doesn't feel that way, because by the time they've gotten to HF, they've spent a hell of a lot more time with the other heroines.

If they somehow made Sakura just as involved as Rin and Saber, I think a lot of her hate would evaporate, as readers would actually want to save her come time for the route.
