Why did everyone suddenly just stop talking about peak oil? (((They))) were talking about it non-stop for years, fearmongering this up as something that seemed like a sure thing. Then suddenly nothing, not a peep about it again. What the hell?

There's been huge finds off the coast of Brazil and Ireland.

Oil is a renewable resource. There is no such thing as a fossil fuel. Try harder

If we're running put of oil, wouldn't oil prices increase, instead of decrese? Or is the market skewed because ISIS is selling oil cheaply?

Greeeaaat, more shit for the EU to rape off us.

Yeah but turning 50 million of the 90 million barrels we use per day into carbon dioxide will eventually make our planet too hard to live on.

Unconventional oil became main stream.

In the permian basin there are areas with like 8 stacked pay zones. Meaning every square mile can contain something like 36 oil wells that make a million barrels each. Pretty much unlimited oil now if you want to spend the money to get it.

Just as planned~!

It's skewed because we tried to lower the price beyond what it cost the Ruskies to even get theirs out of the ground, in the hopes it would eliminate them like it did in the 80s/early90s.
This time however, it failed.

I work in the oil industry. We're not gonna run out for a very long time. Especially for special petrochemical products.

bye bye saudi arabia

...

You really believe that? Lol seems more likely it was saudi arabia trying squeeze out high cost producers like US and Canada

>he believes in peak oil
>laughing girls.jpg

>Yeah but turning 50 million of the 90 million barrels we use per day into carbon dioxide will eventually make our planet too hard to live on.

Not for plants

Resolutely so. Think about it, the Saudis didn't start trying to muscle out US producers until Russia fucked a spanner into the EUs plan to steal their bread basket (Ukraine) and put it under the 1.4 trillion euros they'd printed out of thin fucking air.

The Saudi Royal Family only exist today because America cut them a deal; Unlimited military support and diplomatic shielding in exchange for you doing what we say.

Anyone who wanted to buy that oil Saudi Arabia was forcing out to fuck with the yanks, still had to buy said yank's dollars to get it, user. So was America really losing there? No.

Plus Saudi want to get a pipeline into Europe and take Russian customers, so it's very much in their interests that the Russians are rendered incapable of challenging them as they are in the country that pipeline was set to go through; Syria.

demand is shrinking, cheaper natural gas replaced it. e.g. in energy production an heating. this will peak as well, but much later.
also new sources had been discovered in deep sea and Arctic. This means peak oil happens later.

good, that shit is the only thing keeping us down from having flying cars and all that stuff. as soon as oil is no longer available people will freak out and develop new energy sources because if not they will fucking die, humanity can only truly evolve at the edge of the abyss.

There's always more oil, sure we're past 10 dollars a barrel oil but there is a massive amount of 100 dollars a barrel oil we haven't even touched yet.

Secondly, the price of alternatives are falling extremely rapidly so nobody is really worried about a world without oil. Solar power for example has dropped in price by 99% since the 70s and there's no indication that the price is even close to slowing down.

No we are not.
Peak oil is the worst meme. Utter unscientific bullshit.

This is such a revolutionary new concept! IIRC first proclaimed in 1914. F***ing idiot.

CO2 is plant food. Every doubling of CO2 increases staple crop yields by 60% and also makes them more drought resistant because they down-regulate respiratory pores where they lose water. Increasing CO2 will save mankind, not destroy it you idiot.

it was just the primer for all of the globalist spending on GREEN energy, the Republicans wanted some from tax payers and the Dems wanted more from Taxpayers and Carbon taxes..
in the last 10-15 years they've found ways to get at oil they knew about cost effectively and also found lots more oil & NatGas

>Secondly, the price of alternatives are falling extremely rapidly so nobody is really worried about a world without oil.

The price is falling in line with discretionary spending across the world. Most nations in Europe, and Asia are using less oil as their populations are shrinking. Not because people are switching to alternative energy.

And by the way you know all the process' to make those things all use oil right? They don't just get all those minerals from around the worl on the backs of solar panels.

Except saudi arabia hasn't increased their production.

Everyone in the industry knows that the real reason oil prices dropped was become the US and Canada started outputting more and the price dropped because of that.

oil will be renewed once all life on earth is destroyed and we have a billion years of algea and plant matter deposited under huge pressures under the earth.

>hey quick Darnell, start up the old GMC Sierra and leave it running because our crops will get bigger!

Except the weather will probably destroy said crops, while the displaced oxygen/soot particles/cancer causing noxes destroy us, you utter, utter spastic.

>planet too hard to live on.

Was the planet non livable for humans and human ancestors when the temperature fluctuated 100x as much ?

all the oil usage of last 100 years probably hasnt changed world average temp by more then a couple degree

you really ready to stop industry and starve for muh climate science ?

>Except the weather will probably destroy said crops
*citation needed

There is no evidence that the weather patterns have changed in intensity or frequency. The hurricanes this year are from SOLAR RADIATION increasing you moron. The weather modification program is destroying the ozone layer.

btw, they pump CO2 into greenhouses from burning propane you idiot. It is a COMMON PRACTICE and it massively increases yields. CO@ was 6 times higher in prehistoric history, and the current CO@ level is only slightly above where plant respiration STOPS. You are not a biochemist, you know shit about prehistoric weather patterns or atmospheric concentrations. Your flagrant lack of education is showing like your hair is on fire, idiot.

Nice try big oil. Oil is a renewable and we are never going to run out, now price it cheap as it should.

>Everyone in the industry knows that the real reason oil prices dropped was become the US and Canada started outputting more and the price dropped because of that.

You answer for supply, but leave out demand. As supply increased demand is decreasing.

zerohedge.com/news/2017-07-08/inevitability-degrowth

Wrong article.

zerohedge.com/news/2017-02-08/energy-consumption-vs-core-populations-trending-down-together

Except peak oil doesn't mean we are running out of oil. Peak oil has already happened when they have to turn to unconvention oil at higher extraction cost. The reason oil price is low is actaully because of low demand. Most of the usage of oil is for gasoline and people just drove a lot less or switch to hybrid

this

>There is no evidence that the weather patterns have changed in intensity or frequency.

nobody was buying the bullshit so they switched to global warming

where do you think the carbon was before it was in the oil ?

you realize just about everytime a volcano goes its releasing decades worth of carbon compaired to all the cars.

i was watching nova or some shit and they were saying that the more Limestone being fed into the volcanoes the more explosive and environmental effects.

this is the same as all the Econuts saying the loggers cant cut down the forest only to have it all burning down a decade or two later

>There is no evidence that the weather patterns have changed in intensity or frequency

Abiogenic petroleum

Petroleum engineer here. I'm laughing.

Oil comes from plant matter, like ethanol. You think it really comes from Dinosaurs? Science books are full of Mason lies. Dinosaurs never existed. The skeletons you see are all made of plaster.

youtube.com/watch?v=v8pUGlLnvT0

eco idiots telling this for like 30 years ...its always running out...NOT !

well good job finding a source for that. It's a source I've never seen before in my life. I'd definitely doubt the validity of a climate research organization based in Germany, but it gives me a reason to look in to it further.

Are you saying the kikes are self-gassing?

We've been "here" for 10+ years ain't nothing changed.

because the world got more populated and more developed means more cases were insures must kick in...no proof at all.

Shale Oil Bonanza Reaches Australia With '$20 Trillion' Discovery

demand is actually increasing...nice try eco tard

>more catastrophes
>more deaths
>higher population on the planet

That is the most useless graph I've seen. I didn't think sweden was this dumb, but I was wrong

So you guys are saying once you pump it out of the ground it just reappears again later? Is this just oil or does everything under the earth just regrow?

Um the planet has a seasons, like everything else.
The Solar System has a season
The Galaxy has a season

>Oil supply decreases
>Price increases
>Creates incentive for alternatives
>Free market creates an alternative that is worth a damn
You can't force the free market to do anything. You have to let it run it's course, then we will get alternatives once oil becomes uneconomically viable to extract. We will never run out of oil, because it will reach a point where it's too expensive to extract to actually flip a profit on.

>CO2 IS PLANT FOOD MUH PLANT FOOODDD

Thats all well and good but

ehp.niehs.nih.gov/EHP41/

>We aimed to estimate global and country-specific risks of protein deficiency attributable to anthropogenic CO2 emissions by 2050.
>Under eCO2, rice, wheat, barley, and potato protein contents decreased by 7.6%, 7.8%, 14.1%, and 6.4%, respectively. Consequently, 18 countries may lose >5% of their dietary protein, including India (5.3%). By 2050, assuming today’s diets and levels of income inequality, an additional 1.6% or 148.4 million of the world’s population may be placed at risk of protein deficiency because of eCO2. In India, an additional 53 million people may become at risk.

Extra CO2 makes food less nutritious.
So the 'extra growth' (which won't happen as CO2 isn't the limiting factor in plant growth in most cases, and drought, soil erosion and shifts in precipitation will cause losses, see the snowfall in Kansas this year destroying Wheat) will be offset hugely by the food being trash tier junk.

11 year sun cycle
look it up
also look at the historical temperatures
You cannot tell anything from the chart you provide. The time scale is just too small and the historical evidence is damning for your theory.

>Co2

Actually, like in all things, (((globalism))) is the cause, if anything.

Look into Marine Oil. It's the heaviest oil we make and our container ships burn it by tons per mile.

Used to be scared as fuck because peak oil, back in 2005 or so.
Learn to live itb it, and desu, nothing's much different..
tfw read top sector CEO analisys from last year.
Overall -3% a year production, compensated by shit oil. That is oil you don't make profit from, because it takes 10 barrels of clean water to extract 1 barrel of heavy oil, that wont usable for most uses.
Everyone agrees.
Holy fuck -3% a year is -50% in 23 years.
I was king of living life, thinking peak oil might just happen past my time on Earth.
But we're fucked beyond belief by their own words.

There are no alternatives.

Tell me, when you die, what alternatives will be available to bring you back from death?

pls become greatest ally.

>estimate
Nice "evidence" you have there.
Go read a book you tool.

the DNA skinsuit may expire...I dont

>eromanga basin

Shale oil unlocked unprecedented new supplies, and increased the resource base by an order of magnitude. Peak-oilers savagely btfo'd in the process

Guess climate change will fix itself :^)

>income inequality
This is not CO2's fault you retard.
>Extra CO2 makes food less nutritious.
There is nothing in the study you cited to support this. Typical liberal idiot. Cites a study and then makes wild ass-hat conjecture.

Yup.
OPEC got self fucked.
Kept cutting production and creepin up prices. Prices got high enough that oil shale became viable. America became less dependent, and domestic production ramped up. Then Saudi Arabia was like "fuck that" and started cranking out the oil in hopes to drop the price and break American oil. And many small American oil companies did go under, but not all. But then many other shitty OPEC countries began to hurt because their oil cost more to produce than it was selling for. Pretty much like what happened in Venezuela. So that caused a need to cut productions and bring prices back up. But then Iran got to start selling oil. They didn't give a fuck about the OPEC cartel, they just started pumping it out. The price began dropping, then it was either country for himself to preserve market share, or stick to the original OPEC cut plan to create the shortage to keep prices up.
On top of that, as they put the screws to the world with high oil prices, something happened that muzzies could not anticipate. Innovation.
Japs and Burgers went to work making cars more efficient, batteries more efficient, solar and wind more efficient. Hopefully everyone takes the nuclear pill soon, and we start up a bunch of reactors.
The final straw is gunna be clean coal and new American drilling. Hillary was the ace in the hole for Saudi Arabia, just as Obama was. American Coal scares them. Domestic drilling scares them. OPEC cornering the oil market is all they have. POTUS will open it all up, and, hopefully, the camel jockeys will be like welfare recipients on the 29th of the month once again.

Of course demand is increasing at the moment because the economy is growing again, but demand took a sharp drop when subprime mortgage market crashed. More bubbles will burst in the future because the unconventional oil is more expensive to recover and refine (i.e. less net energy).

>We're running out of oil!
Time to start more wars over what little is left!

>GOM?

lmao no we aren't and if you really believe this as a fact you could be a millionaire with 10,000$. If we weren't in a glut (which we are), a decade from now would give you 1000% return on oil. Invest in price of oil. LOL.

last i heard of this was that there was a minority of soviet scientists in the last 50 years proposing this . but when they made their predictions and went to check them out they didnt find any new oil or proof for their claim.

your going to have to link me to the chemical/biological process that explains this theory otherwize its flatearth teir

>There are no alternatives.

Just wait until we have actual good batteries desu

Well then, nuclear power it is!

Shit oil is not a replacement.
For once, it's heavier, so it doesn't have as much uses as light oil.
Second, it's a fucking drain on water supply.
See

Quick! Let's kill more dinosaurs and ancient plants and let them decompose millions of years under the Earth at great pressure!

Fracking invented more oil.

Oil deposits are being found all the time. Coastal Brazil, coastal Straya, Russia, Canada.
>what is abiogenic oil
filthy pleb.

They started sucking the oil out of all those South American fake bodybuilders who pump their muscles full of oil so the shortage ended.

*discoved

>Just wait until we have actual good batteries desu

You do know that the absolute best Tesla batteries hold the energy equivalent of three gallons of gas?

Gasoline is 15,000 times more energy dense per kg than the best lithium ion batteries.

15,000 fold is not something we can fix. Science fiction is a bluepill.

Perhaps oil's best kept secret.

I highly recommend 'The deep hot biosphere' by Thomas Gold. Far and away the best book on the subject of abiogenic hydrocarbons.

*made more accessible with current existing infrastructure

30 trillion dollars in construction costs to supplant the 15 terawatts we get from fossil fuels.

That does not include the mining of the radioactive material.

newatlas.com/organic-stardust-discovered/20310/
Every time i post this /sci/&/o/ I get my ass handed to me...?

>We're running out of oil!
The earth is running out of time, albiet nearly as slowly.

Fracking is the key to access these deep abiotic oils

That's ... normal?
Dude, peak oil documentation date back to before 2000. It never says new oil won't be discovered. just that discoveries aren't compensating decline in production anymore.

It would take millions of years for that dust to drift to the earth, that's why they laugh.

>but when they made their predictions and went to check them out they didnt find any new oil or proof for their claim.

They DID find oil, the problem was that their colleagues (aka people funded by big oil) claimed the oil they pulled out was contaminated with the drilling fluids and called it null and void. The project was then abandoned.

You can crack the heavy oil into lighter fractions.
Takes more energy input though

You do know that hating big oil is about the most blue pilled liberal thing you can do, right?

>abiotic oils.
Gome on user. It's fucking bullshit.
It's been created by conspiracy fags to justify oil companies rigging oil prices, when there's really nothing going on but normal oil exploitation going on.

a lie created by a drug outted hippy in the 1960s. The left pushed it to get their free green subsidies, and so did the right because why leave money on the table. like everything in the eco-fanatical pseudo-religion, it's faux bullshit designed to get gullible
goyim to give up their money and their luxuries so the elite can have more for themselves.

ACID RAIN IS GOING TO KILL US ALL!!!!!!

>it is currently 1950
wao

That's a meme that's been around since the 70's.
We have more in proven reserves than we have pulled out of the Earth.
We're not running out of oil in anyone's lifetime. Anyone that believes that shit is falling for the jew trick of scarcity, same as diamonds. Diamonds aren't really that valuable, special, or rare.
Same as oil. There's plenty.

We'll hit over $60 a barrel before the year is out.

Sure, but batteries are still useful and will become better.

This leaf gets it! Spot on

Proven reserve /= extraction rate.
In fact, it's fucking normal that we'd have about as much proven reserves as previously extracted.
Extraction rate is the main issue.

They will, but only by tiny fractions of what we have now. Thermodynamics sets hard limits for energy conversion. Every time you put energy into or take energy out of a battery you lose a great deal of it to heat. That's why your phone is so hot when you use it.

If they up the power, they up the heat. Good luck keeping plastic from melting or your hands from burning.

>and seed asteroids with it
Fair criticism, but if those asteroids then form a planet...
