Private military contractors typically don't employ people who haven't served.

You need background in the military to get into an active PMC.
Most are divisions of larger private security firms. You can get a non combat security role with a background in Law enforcement.
You can also get a job as a security guard with a four week training boot camp.
The latter is attainable to most of the NEETs here.
Look at G4S, largest employer on the planey. They hire from the bottom all way to ex military guys.
These companies tend to cover all security applications, not specifically mercenary work.

and I asked the security guys what they look for in a possible applicant. The answer was pretty straight forward:
1. Former US/UK Military
2. Special Forces for at least 4 years
3. Combat Experience
then, and only then, would they even look at you as an applicant
