I lived in Live Oak near Universal City in 1990/91 it was mostly White.. seemed fine to me. You have to realize and accept thojgh that SA is basically mexico.. its still to a real degree culturally part of mexico so don't expect any deference for your whiteness from the mexicans there they've been there forever.

The shitty thing about the SA proposition is that there is a clawback on the relocation package, so if it's bullshit I can't just up and leave. And the SA economy is only about 1/2 or 1/4 as good and diverse as Phoenix. Finding a job in a different city is a pain in the ass, relocating is a pain in the ass, and it just seems like folly to go out there and give it a try, good job or not.

Also, I just can't get my head around why the fuck the river walk is such a big deal? That's like saying that Tempe Town Lake is badass or Old Town Scottsdale is really western style when people as what makes Phoenix great. It's fucking ridiculous. And San Antonio folks say 'muh bars' and 'muh music venues' as if Phoenix doesn't have dozens of microbreweries and top tier music venues now.

Shit is becoming more expensive like the rest of Texas. Not a lot of jobs in San Antonio. A few big companies like USAA and Tesoro. That's about it.

There's some area that is becoming "urbanized" with shops & apartments if ur in to that sort of thing.

Great weather for 7 months out of the year, every kind of nature you could want within a two-hour drive. Decent food, relatively safe, low CoL, cheap housing, etc..

Phoenix is just fucking based. And Arizona is too. There is SO MUCH to do here, and so much in close proximity. Wanna go camping in the forest? Closest legit forest camping from Phoenix is less than an hour and a half away. Decent snow skiing is less than 3 hours away. There are a half dozen lakes around Phoenix, all within 1/2 to 1 hour depending on what part of town you live in. Grand Canyon? 3.5 hours away. Vegas? 5 hours away. San Diego / LA - 5/6 hours away.

And for 7 and a half months per year, we have the very best weather in the entire country, hands down.

It's the wild west out here and you can legally carry any type of gun ANYWHERE, open or concealed, fully fucking loaded; except for a municipal/government building, a school, a bar, or private property which prohibits it.

San Antonio is shit. Full of spics and not the nice or attractive spics but they're ALL short, fat, brown, and disgusting to look at. They have no redeeming qualities. It's also hot as fuck. Don't take my word for it, go visit for a weekend. You'll regret taking that job more than just about any decision you'll make for the rest of your life.

trivia.. I ended up splitting up with a GF with who I was living in SA partly because it was so hot and I didn't really want to live there often over 100 F.. we had a rent free apartment where we managed a self storage facility called the Lock and Go but the owner sold it and the new owner hired his own family to run it ... I had no interest is putting roots down there.

Phoenix is alright, just be sure to live outside of the city. Everything is cheap as dirt here. Rent is cheap, food is cheap, gas is cheap. Electric bills are high, but it's the desert.

Nice river, parties, college girls and bars. Austin is an hour north and liberal hell. You'll be safe in New Braunfels.

Local SA resident here. Our city has just about as wide a wage gap as a city can get. We sport about 20% of the total population below the federal poverty line, but also a mess of 1% that live in gated communities like the Dominion. It can be quite the culture shock.

san antonio user here. housing is buyers market, always is. And if you are smart about your property location you can earn alot of real estate money here. pro tip, follow the school districts in san antonio; they are a big indicator of white, hispanic (not the poor kind, the property owning kind), spic and other nigger tier. id say varies by field. they are trying hard to get tier one status. Id say their engineering and biology departments are seeing alot of funding and are getting some renown. And you have to remember san antonio is full of bases, there is huge military presences here. there are some big tech companies here that do pump money into UTSA (and some other private universities here). Hell even think of all the services to support such a huge military presence, and you can find them here. USAA (banking), plenty of credit unions that take VA loans, Southwest Bio Research, even Valero!
