SAO was the best anime, a deconstruction of the harem genre, and posited philosophical questions like the nature of reality.

Wait...

This is true though.
Shinji and Kaworu are confirmed to be the same person thanks to ANIMA and what Anno implied in some interviews.

Right kinda like how a pig deconstructs mud.

>not Oak is Ash's father
Get your mind out of the gutter, pleb.

Indeed. A pig rolls in mud, covering itself with all the mud, but turns out in the end it is for a good purpose; it reveals the usefulness of the mud for the well-being of the pig.

Just like this simile of pig in the mud, although SAO dwells in all the sins of the harem genre, it reveals the goodness in the genre and it reveals the significance of the tropes to the well-being of the stories in the harem genre.

I wish I can be as succinct as you, user. That is a great simile.

>it reveals the goodness in the genre
When. Literally when does it do this.

SAO's only merit was spawning an endless torrent of clones, some of which are fun

Unless it is confirmed by the author himself, it is still a theory.

I unironically appreciate video game anime. Writers should really expand beyond fantasy MMOs though. SAO II got it right with GGO until it fucked up the pacing.
