It's still not out yet on CR for some reason
I guess HS release most likely delayed again
Looks like it's out now. CR is delayed 10 minutes today.
I just hope it didn't filled with QUALITY like what showed in preview from last week episode
It's out on CR now. I just finished it, there's no quality from what i've seen.
Great episode though. We're finally getting to the meat and potatoes of the arc
well, that's it, that's our show. Chibiusa's dead. Goodnight.
Say what ?!
[CR] Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal Season III - 08 [720p].mkv
Eyes went dead, and she stopped breathing after her crystal got ripped out of her
Hotaru's jammies and her suffering are boner inducing
Are you me ?
I just want to said that.
Shitty OP/ED lyrics translation
Have to fix script in various places
Good thing I don't have to put up with bad scripts.
rest in piece Chibiusa ;_;
You were the cutest loli to ever grace our screen
Saturn killed her
no, mistress 9 did.
The music this episode was so good.
I never read the manga, so I wasn't expecting mistress 9 to pop up that quickly.
Scared the shit out of me
suddenly Mistress 9
Are you me ?
I just want to said that.
More proof females have far better fanservice sense on girls than males will ever have
Lookin' kinda beefy there, Usagi.
well no duh, she's turning in that animation so of course it'll look a bit weird
So thats how Edgy Hotaru is born.
And in the preview, it looks like Rei is about to get raped.
And who is this "patrons" supposed to be ?
Why evil Hotaru looking so sexy ?
not too sure. Maybe they meant their parents inheritance, or the company's that sponsor Haruka and Michiru to do their shit
Silver Millennium Ministry of Finance
Why is Hotaru/Saturn so yummy?
Next Monday can't come soon enough
Do we know if they're going to adapt the fourth arc right after this? I don't want to wait several months/a year to see Fish Eye.
Most likely. Looks like they'll be doing all 5 story arcs
I hope they do it right after like they did with Black Moon.
Then I hope they do
Stars and Sailor V the same way.
Let's wait until the blu-ray sales report come in, if it sells like hotcake then we surely gonna get 4th season.
(And remember, considering 3rd season still got greenlit despite how wrecked Crystal S1 & S2....4th season is very likely to happen.)
THE OUTER SENSHI PLEASE OLD MEN FOR MONEY
N-Noooo!!, Haruka don't use your Uranus power!!!!
Exactly what I had in my mind when I'm seeing Michiru's being upset of Haruka's word.
It can also be an old madame with a lot of fortune.
(Remember they are lesbian.)
Ha ha, we are talking Sailor Moon here, not some random seasonal generic LN adaptation, of course they will go all the way, in particular after how goddamn good S has been so far, holy shit I am Psyched for Stars
as long as they keep the director we have now, i'll be more than hyped for the last 2 arcs.
I need to see my baby, Fisheye, revamped.
They bring back Galaxia VA to sing the 2nd ver. Of the opening song, it should have been some huge hint there.
Anon what is that shitty res.
I really want to see Sailor Iron Mouse.
I'm surprised Chiaki Kon made this work
Fish Eye will last like, one episode
and won't be voiced by Akira Ishida
Fish Eye would be a one and done jobber just like all the other minions in the manga.
I think the only thing that needed fixing for crystal was the horrendous animation, and the pacing.
She's not exactly god tier or anything, but she earned my respect for fixing this show and making it fun to watch when it seemed to be going down the gutter.
Another favorite villain of mines.
You have good taste
mai waifu from childhood is returning
the QUALITY demons of the past have been banished
updated saturn transformation imminent
What a time to be alive.
I'll really miss Ishida's voicing of
I loved the original anime version of Fisheye, and the musical as well. I wonder if that was Ikuhara's idea to do Fisheye like that.
It wasn't just the animation. The new director admitted that she was a fan of the original anime and you can see that. I hate to sound pretentious but the old director didn't manage to capture the
spirit of the old anime.
My guess is that he wasn't too familiar with the 90s anime and because of his work on Precure he didn't want too much of an overlap with it and tried to give the show more of a focus on romance and a more serious vibe to further diverge it from Precure. The problem is that Sailor Moon's plot and romance is nothing to write home about, especially in the first two arcs.
Then there's just the plain bad writing and oversight. Never mind the embarrassment that was the whole Four Generals "arc", a scene from the manga would sometimes be changed but because they forgot to accommodate for that change later on, you'd be left wondering what's going on i.e: Usagi not being rendered crazy looking for the Silver Crystal yet still collapsing from apparent shoujo exhaustion as a result of that later on in the episode.
daily reminder that this happened
Fucking CR catering to special snowflake "genderfluid" tumblrinas. I bet they knew exactly what they were doing here.
Yeah you can tell the new director is putting passion into what she's doing compared to the old one.
As a sailor moon fan, its easy to spot another one and she definitely seems like a genuine fan of the series. You can tell she likes all versions of the story and tried to incorporate it into this new season and it works out very well.
And yes I agree, the romance in the first two arcs do get grating after a while, and it was pretty awful that they tried to put so much emphasis on it that they forgot the reason people enjoyed sailor moon, which was for the friendships between the characters, and their struggles with growing and adapting to their responsibilities.
And oh god, that Shittenou/Senshi romance plot they did was so badly written and all around awful. It's the reason I dropped out of the first two seasons of crystal. I'd much prefer them dying off like they did in the manga, no matter how much I love Zoisite.
Looks like they used the wrong hair color for Neo Queen Serenity
I don't blame them, it's hard for me to remember that her hair was silver in the manga, too. Especially since i'm so used to the blonde hair in the original anime..
I'm still disgusted.
People still watch this?
It is legit good now
I was trying to figure out why it was blonde in that scene when they've used the silver hair before
And thankfully it's a good show, now.
I was trying to figure out why it was blonde in that scene when they've used the silver hair before
I don't think Chiaki gives any fucks to keep things consistent with previous Crystal seasons.
The only part I agree with you is that the previous director messed up by trying to hard to make Crystal not like Precure, which is bad because Sailor Moon is a precursor to Precure. And by focusing on avoiding being like Precure he failed to capture the very spirit of Sailor Moon.
To make matters worse he also wanted to avoid being like the '99 series which just made things worse since Ikuhara had a good understanding of the essence of the manga. So we were left with a soulless adaptation that just didn't feel like the Sailor Moon manga it was supposed to adhere to.
no sexy Chibiusa legs
Still not convinced.
I agree with this.
When I was watching Crystal seasons 1 and 2, it didn't feel like I was watching Sailor Moon. It felt like I was watching a soulless youtube animation with the professional voice actors attached to it.
It lacked so much spirit and energy to it that made the franchise great to begin with.
It's shocking what putting passion into something does to a project, though.
This episode looked a bit wonky, but the preview for next episode looks awesome. I can't wait.
non slutty, pure lolis are the best kind..
senshi can fly to buildings
I didn't know they could do this.
In the manga they could do this.
I don't know why they kept it out in the 90's anime..
Then why are they nude in the OP?
Nudity doesn't mean it's sexual, you fucking pervert
Nudity doesn't mean it's sexual
Where do you think we are?
The senshi in the manga were ridiculously powerful.
Chibiusa running towards Hotaru's was really well done.
I was shocked at how well done that scene was, too.
I'm not used to seeing Chibi Moon being able to do things on her own, like that.
It pains me to see how prude they have become about Chibiusa, so no, I'm not fine with that.
Also that long skirt is ugly as hell.
needs more best senshi
Damn, silver hair were much better.
Master Pharaoh 90 knows what he's doin
why does anyone like Hotaru
I guess it will be 'fixed' in the BD? Didn't mind her design in S2, it made her look a bit more mature
Has the goth appearance down to a T
Has a pretty great back story
She's a cute magical girl, too
Oh gee, I wonder.
Oh it's a goth loli thing and not a good taste thing.
I never cared for Hotaru. Minako will always be my favorite.
good for you guys, then.
Minako is great except for the whole 'wanting to be raped gently' thing.
That's because she's the best.
She wants to put up a resistance because resistance makes the guy's penis harder, and that benefits her in the end.
She's a cute cyborg magical girl, too
Even the voice actors feel soulless in S1 & S2.
While her original VA Kotono Mitsuishi voiced Usagi again, I didn't feel her spirit in the S1 & S2.
Yet in S3 I got the vibe of classic anime Usagi again, it might be because her voice doesn't feel forced as 14 years old girl now as S3 Usagi is more cheerful than in S1 & S2
Crystal's Hotaru just too seducing.
Kotono is clearly happy that S3 doesn't suck major balls compared to the halfassed first two seasons.
She looks amazing!
Sometimes, the style just looks eerily close to the original anime, when they're not doing closeups on the faces, anyway.
Chibiusa a shit A SHIT
I just finished all of Super S for the first time.
Why do so many SM fans hate that season? I thought it was pretty solid, sure there was a lot of filler, but honestly it was fun to watch.
There wasn't as much Chibiusa stuff in this season that people were complaining about all the time.
which is what Mercury was originally supposed to be
she finally got to have her way and editor-kun couldn't tell her no
More than 20 years later and Sailor Saturn is still the best looking mahou shoujo ever created.
She's absolutely beautiful.
People seem to hate it for diverging from the manga a bit too much. There's the weird romance between the horse and ChibiUsa, even the horse is actually a boy. Then there was the lack of the outer senshi, which I think disappointed a lot of people, especially since their departure was a bit half assed.
The villains were nice though, and the monster of the day were fun. I really didn't mind them much unlike other seasons.
Saturn is fucking gorgeous. I love her.
I see. I've heard about how the amazoness quartet were supposed to be sailor senshi in the manga, so I can see how that'd upset people.
Honestly I thought Helios/Chibiusa was kindof cute to watch.
But yeah, i'm starting Stars now, sad that i'll be done with the 90's anime soon, and it's a sin that they kept the outer senshi out until this season started.
I used to be like you.
Until SMC season 3.
It's amazing how so many things this third season did right.
Even improving Chibiusa.
I am stunned at how all this was possible. Hotaru and Sailor Saturn look better than ever before as well. Same for Mistress 9.
What dark magic did Toei used to achieve all of this?
Then there was the lack of the outer senshi, which I think disappointed a lot of people, especially since their departure was a bit half assed.
Which is SO odd considering Ikuhara would never shaft the lesbians out of the picture
But yeah, i'm starting Stars now
Get ready for Galaxia!
They sacrificed a good OST.
She's the best girl.
It's a shame they won't be redoing the first 2 seasons in this glorious fashion.
Just forget they ever existed.
This arc is where the story really started to get good anyway.
Silence Glaive this.
Fuck this. The OST is so lame. Not signature music for Uranus and Neptune is a crime.
Well that certainly explains a lot about her "personality".
But everything else is so good.
Can't we just overlook this small aspect?
It's funny how Sailor Moon invented both Rei and the Death&Rebirth concept in Anime before Evangelion and only a few people realize it.
All we really need is for some dedicated soul to edit in the old music
Will we get a Michiru violin piece CD this time around? I fucking hope so.
Asuka and Rei are taken from Brave Raideen.
it feels like that's what really happened.
Saturn had enough of Toei's shit and destroyed the last animation team so the reborn SMC is great
What's weird is that their current transformation music isn't even transformation music. It's not even general attack music. It's almost like music I would imagine being played maybe with a magical item appearing at best.
I wonder who animated Super Sailor Moon's transformation. If an animation director had fixed up more of the frames, it would have looked perfect.
I hope someone does this for the Saturn henshin.
It all just proves once more that Saturn is the best Sailor Senshi.
Easy, they just had to sacrifice the budget of Pretty Cure and Dragon ball Super.
Good. That show is a piece of turd anyway. It even scrapped the whole Mai and Trunks thing that was in the movie.
They really hit PreCure hard, but I guess it did worth it in the end.
I must say the transformation to Super Sailor Moon animation is kinda disappointing.
It wasn't bad, it's just it feels kinda descent.
For all these years, I still don't get why Uranus and Neptune treat Usagi like shit.
In Sailor Moon S, you mean ?
Uranus and Neptune treat Usagi like shit
Mai and Trunks shipping
I will never understand why people want this so bad.I also will never understand why the art for Mai changed so much.Drawing her eyes like Chi-Chi's or Pan's completely black losing the blue eye color, and the unique sexy-seducing shape. What the fuck was Toei thinking?
I think the hate also comes from the fact that the Dream Arc and Stars arcs were the best arcs in the manga.
Hoes before gays
That's because she and the Pilaf gang turned younger from a wish granted by the dragon balls, ya dip.
Turning into a child doesn't change your eye color from blue to pitch black,knob-head.I can see the shape being a bit different because she's a kid again, but the eye color,no.I haven't seen one character[from any anime]have such a major eye color change like that, unless it's really shit editing.Just look at how they changed Ikuko mama's hair color[eye color also, iirc],and Neo Queen Serenity's hair color. But it's expected of Toei to always fuck up.
Stars is the best in both the anime and the manga.
The lack of Mamoru and Chibiusa make the story somewhat enjoyable.
They're a lot more powerful in the manga.
It's kind of ridiculous how much more powerful they are. No getting kicked around or tied up by the daily Daimon this time around.
Lack of good direction will make even the best voice actors sound bad
Ceres is my waifu
Can't wait to see them done in new Crystal style.
Also, they should get a transformation sequences now, since they end up as sailor scouts in manga.
Every character in this show looks infinitely better without lipstick.
It's a shame that Takanashi is making no attempt whatsoever to honor the original's OST. Not even for a few select tracks. I actually really like Sailor Moon's transformation themes. The first season's and the new one but that's really it. The music whenever Kaorinite talks to the Witches 5/Pharaoh 90 is pretty decent but just about every other track is literally background music.
The old composer for the original anime died, so we'll never get our Charlie's Angels theme-inspired music ever again.
Is it impossible for them to re-use the old OST?
Don't think it'd be any kind of real issue unless it was contract agency or licensing work of some kind. Otherwise I just think they don't want to reuse it and it's as simple as that. For shame, because the music is exactly what got me into the series in the first place.
listening to midi files of Sailor Moon music in the 90s downloaded on a dialup connection
Those were the days.
post moar Hotaru
What did she actually say?
Rest of the screencaps that I got from yesterday's episode.
(And I usually only take Usagi moments)
listening to midi files of Sailor Moon music in the 90s downloaded on a dialup connection
If I'm not mistaken, in manga she actually said that Uranus is a woman warrior with a strength of a man.
No moonruner, but she says "Uranus wa otoko de mo ari onna de mo aru" or something, sounds like the subs are correct unless it's some context thingy. I guess she just means that Uranus has powers associated with men and women as well or something along these lines.
I would probably read that as something like "Uranus [possesses characteristics of] both males and females"
What is this?
Stars is the conclusion and the climax of the series. Everything comes together really well and all the characters that take the stage actually have some relevance.
In classic anime the gender thing is actually more simpler because on her first appearance Haruka is confirmed as a woman that love to dressed as a man.
Yet in Crystal (and manga), it became ambiguous because Haruka appear in the form of man and woman in many occasions. And this just make the debate and confussion became endless.
Let's just chalk it up to Mrs Takeuchi is a hack writer.
And this just make the debate and confussion became endless.
It's fucking blown out of proportion.
That's just CR's shitty fast-food translation, which again is inaccurate as hell.
That's all there is too it really.
PGSM, the live action series.
God damn it, Japan.
How watchable it was ?
Compared to manga or anime, was it enjoyable ?
Any big difference with anime/manga (in story & characteristics) ?
I remember I dropped this just from the 1st episode alone.
The actress who played Usagi just truly didn't have any bit resemblance with Usagi at all.
I know it's stupid to compare 2D with 3D as in no way a real people can 100% match with anime appareance. But at least they should have get the "bishoujo" part right.
It was a lot of fun and very enjoyable. It's pretty much it's own thing plot wise... It takes various things from the manga, anime and even the original Sera Myus.
They change Venus' character to be more of a loner who is already an idol... and Mercury is much more self conscious of her friendship with Usagi which causes her to get brain washed by the Dark Kingdom instead of Mamoru.
Honestly, I really felt like PGSM did certain things with the characters far better than the anime or manga. Especially with Mamoru and Usagi's relationship, it had a nice realistic growth from: I sorta find you annoying to I'm starting to like you into love. And this is all before they figure out about the Moon Kingdom stuff. I always hated that about the original anime, cause they never had an nice romantic moments that made their relationship not feel obligated. And the manga just moves too quickly to have any slow growth with them.
I HIGHLY suggest it; it had its cheesy and bad acting moments, but its worth it in the end.
Might give it a try, somehow that Mamoru & Usagi's relationship sound promising.
The soundtrack in this show is seriously underrated
Everything in the original OST from the 90's show was miles better.
PGSM, the live action series.
Aren't there actors that /m/ should recognize?
PGSM is surprisingly decent, but it takes a while for the actors to get into their groove/for you to grow accustomed to the subpar acting. The SoL has a lot of goofy hijinks, the characters all have great characterizations with little twists here and there from their original incarnations and the character interaction is very nice.
It also does a mix and match with interesting elements in Sailor Moon that only appeared later on, like Venus having traits of the Outer Senshi, Luna having traits of Chibi-Usa, Super Sailor Moon, etc. so just seeing the new analogs is interesting.
Meh. They just throw in a chorus in an otherwise forgettable track and call it a day. I've
seen people praising the "EPIC" chorus on Youtube so clearly it worked but I'm wholly underwhelmed by the soundtrack save for a couple tracks.
Eternal Eternity is the only good piece of music out of Crystal.
I really wish they kept it as the ED, and made a second ED by Pluto and Saturn. ChibiUsa's ED is terrible.
Those outfits make them look so fat. Would it have hurt to get a proper tailor?
it's not terrible, but it doesn't fit the story they're telling. it would go much better with the Dream arc. losing Eternal Eternity after 3 episodes was pure idiocy
EE is amazing. I don't get why they changed the ED at this point, Chibiusa's song doesn't fit this arc at all.
the Senshi still don't know their souls are in their crystals and their bodies are empty husks
Venus' is so different from the rest.
This one always gets me.
Question: if they get lazy with the next season so that Stars can have more budget, will you be mad?
no because the Dream arc was the worst one (aside from the anime Hell Tree arc)
This. Stars is GOAT and I really hope we get to see Cosmos in Crystal.
It felt so wrong hearing such a cheery song after Chibi-Usa biting the dust like that
I fucking cringed.
Everytime someone calls them Sailor Scouts, a Chibiusa dies.
A Chibiusa ending song is more fitting for Black Moon or Dream arc, having it for Infinity isn't really right.
No. The Stars anime is garbage.
Bet you're one of the people that thinks the first season was the best.
dat adult Chibiusa.
One of the best episode in SS.
And knowing that this would definitely happpen in S4 just make me eager for the next season to be announced.
I heard that
Venus died of illness couple episodes before finale , is it true ?
yeah I think she
died of a brain tumor or something
God, when she became an adult and had that midriff going on, that was the first boner I ever had for Chibiusa.
Don't post bad quality.
I like it, the parts with rock.
Not really. I like the Doom Tree filler and S.
can't wait to see this scene animated in Crystal
They don't show up transformed in their age swapped forms in the manga. So you'll just be getting this
At least we will get Black Lady joke.
I can't wait to see this scene animated.
I swear by the thumbnail I almost thought I was gonna see the "eat her poop" image.
wait did Chibiusa stay in the manga all the way till the end, or did she go back at the beginning of the galaxia arc like in the anime?
it's a good time to be a sailor moon fan
Not for Chibiusa fans.
Speaking as someone who until today had never seen either the original anime or the new Crystal one:
I watched episode 1 of each series today and goddamn, what the fuck did they do to the art style in Crystal? I can see that they may have been trying to follow the art of the original illustrations but it comes off as being really low budget
What do you guys think of these changes?
Do you mean the change from the original anime to season 1-2 of crystal?
I thought that if the animators actually cared in the first two seasons, it probably would've looked stunning.
But there's obviously a reason why the art was so simplified in the original anime, and that's because while Naoko's style was pretty, there was no way it would be translated into animation, well.
This is why they had the characters redesigned for the new season of Crystal, and it looks 10x's better.
Everyone agrees, season 1 and 2 of Crystal are pretty bad.
Season 3 however, kicks ass.
Comparison between season 2 and 3:
I like this version of adult Chibiusa better than the classic anime version
You have to see season 3 of Crystal.
They have fix it a lot, it even superior than the classic anime IMO
I love the classic version more than crystal. But I have to be honest, i'm liking the way the S arc is playing out now than in the 90's anime.
I will have to take a look at Season 3 then.
I'm really enjoying the original show. I'm watching the dub (which I'm sure is sacrilege here) but I just like the English voices, particularly Usagi/Serena's. Going to stay well away from dubbed Crystal though, sounds nasty.
Do you guys think I can just go straight to this season while not watching the previous ones?
She stayed til the end.
you may need some knowledge of what happened in the story before since it references past events in the plot.
I'd suggest reading the manga up to act 27, and then starting the new season.
watching a butchered version of an anime
ok then, anon. New viz dub for the 90's anime took me for a loop too when I first heard it and I hated it, but I got pretty used to it after a few episodes. And plus, hearing that old OST from the og anime is comfty as fuck. It's hard to imagine someone missing out on that.
I'd suggest you'd try it out
You'd really need to know about the story of the silver millenium, and other things that happened in the first 2 story arcs in order to fully enjoy the season.
I'm not too sure how jumping into this season without knowing anything about SM would feel like, but i'm gonna assume you'll be extremely confused.
Like this anon said, reading the manga to catch up would be your best bet
Did she revived at the end ?
tf 90s anime cuts Hotaru out of fourth season
In manga at the beginning of Galaxia arc she going back to the future but coming back in the final battle to aid Eternal Sailor Moon fighting Galaxia.
She even bring the amazones (now as a Sailor Soldiers) to help.
I'm more disturbed by the fact that she is the only Senshi without any transformation scene.
I hope they will give her a proper transformation scene in Crystal now.
That's honestly so disappointing compared to how the old anime did it.
That also, I disliked that and in the game she had like a 2 second medicore transformation. Did they not like her or something?
I want to believe but I wouldn't get my hopes up
Sailor Moon's plot is nothing to write home about
Seriously, I've never seen anime do classic tragedy better. Sailor Moon is at its best when it takes itself seriously, it's just the weak writing, development and characterization that makes Crystal (and the manga) such garbage.
She has pretty much the most complex personality of any character in anime. I have no idea why the hell you are so dense.
I've heard about how the amazoness quartet were supposed to be sailor senshi in the manga, so I can see how that'd upset people.
This is a completely irrelevant detail that doesn't matter. I don't know how you'd complain about the anime adaptation of the arc, yet also hate that it just specifically doesn't do this particular thing.
This arc is where the story really started to get good anyway.
That's the problem. They had the opportunity to make the first two seasons fantastic, given how important they are and how much focus they get through the various adaptation, but they chose not to do this and just let everything be sloppy as hell. The later seasons work well for what they are, but the first season is the meatiest part of Sailor Moon by far.
What exactly is 'butchered' out of curiosity? I'm aware the character names are changed and some elements involving death are changed but I don't mind those.
a Chibiusa dies
Good, Chibiusa is a title that no dub should ever use as it makes no sense in English. The old dub was right to use Rini.
They just throw in a chorus in an otherwise forgettable track and call it a day.
Usagi's transformations were always shit music wise. They would have been far more fitting for Sailor V.
I'm watching the dub (which I'm sure is sacrilege here)
Great, but yeah, people here will shit all over you for it. Enjoying DiC Sailor Moon is perfectly fine, as long as you recognize that it's basically a completely different show from the original.
but I just like the English voices, particularly Usagi/Serena's
Serena's first voice is excellent, and you're more than right to prefer her to her Japanese actress. I don't think anyone else has played her with that kind of energy better than that or made her spaz out scenes work as well. Having said that, while some of the characters are done better in the dub, the the Japanese has a far wider variety of interesting characters overall.
And plus, hearing that old OST from the og anime is comfty as fuck
DiC pulled off many musical themes well, but the dub soundtrack gets overbearing and repetitive fr more quickly and and up leaking the variety of moods the Japanese has, even if certain themes and song sections make select episodes more enjoyable.
The whole anime is basically completely different, all the characters are different people with different personalities, everything is rewritten, certain villains are replaced 'the negaverse' (which is the weirdest aspect of the dub by far) and most episodes are re-edited to show different scenes in different orders, with scenes from later or earlier episodes being frequently edited in different places. The whole thing is remade to feel like a Canadian Saturday morning cartoon. Like I said, it can be quite fun to watch in the right mindset, but you shouldn't be ignorant of what the show is like in Japanese.
Image related isn't shown in the old dub, sadly.
Sorry about that, I had to use my Iphone to screencap it.
Usually I use my Ipad to take HQ images, but somehow after updated to ios9 the photo albums took a long time to restore (still haven't finished restoring until this second) and it somehow inaccessible.
underage kid pointing a real looking gun on other people's head.
Yeah, it is very acceptable it got removed.
Serena's first voice is excellent
Yes I do like it, but I've read ahead that the voice actress changes over the course of the show. First is the best, second is nice but the third really falls off the rails from what I've heard. I'm not looking forward to that one.
And yeah, I understand how it's different. The 'Saturday morning cartoon' feeling is actually the feeling I'm looking for as I enjoyed watching dubbed Pokemon and DBZ when I was younger and I suspect they were similarly edited to 'westernize' them. I'm fine with that, just like I was fine with death being replaced by the shadow realm in Yugioh. But I'll give the Japanese version a shot at some point too.
Yes I do like it, but I've read ahead that the voice actress changes over the course of the show.
Yeah, I was about to mention that, as it really is a big deal. The first cour is the most enjoyable part of the dub mainly for this reason (though I think she also comes back for Jupiter's intro episode). I really don't care for the actresses that come after her and it really robs the dub of what would otherwise make it stand out positively.
I completely forgot to mention the 'Sailor Says' parts, though there's not much I need to say about those.
She'll be missed.... for one week.
oh the 90s and their "you better have learned a lesson from this cartoon" obsession
Because Sailor Moon is such a role model.
Were Saturn and Pluto's roles in the story originally supposed to be reversed?
It would make a lot more sense to have Saturn appear in the Black Moon arc and have time powers, and Pluto to be the edgy senshi of the "forbidden planet" with death powers.
I know the outer senshi didn't even exist in Takeuchi's original idea of the story, but it sure seems like some things got mixed up when she decided to extend the story past the first arc.
Think of 4kids and how they butcher their anime and you have the 90s dub of sailor moon. It's good for laughs and it was tons of peoples first experience to sailor moon, sure. But if you try to talk about sailor moon on a board like this and you only know about the dub then you're going to be lost in the discussion because they altered so many plot points, it's not even the same show anymore.
Not to mention in the manga, it's heavily implied that Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask were fucking like dogs after the dark kingdom arc ended.
I like the Sailor V manga.
Jesus that reads like its from 2016 not 2001. a proto-tumblrina
I was thinking about this a few days ago.
Most of you associate that sort of behaviour with tumblr bitches but that sort girl always existed, they used to hang-out on Livejournal or Geocities years ago.
Nowadays it is tumblr.
I want to believe
Believe it, man.
Hotaru will have a transformation scene.
Season 3 has done everything right so far. They won't let us down on this.
Silence Glaive this.
So in the end, they changed Chibiusa so that people who hated her won't hate her as much anymore, but people who actually loved her will hate her?
Good job Toei, you're right to make lolicons go away from SM.
I think everyone who used to love Chibiusa from the 90's series loves her even more now.
Toei nailed it on this Season.
3D was a mistake.
that's how Chibiusa was in the manga. The 90's anime made her a brat because they neede conflict to make filler I suppose
She is technically still a brat now.
It's just she rarely shown that side in S3.
Amen for that.
But even if they missed it this season, there's another chance in Season 4. (When she got her memories as Saulor Saturn back.)
You can bet your ass it's not like that.
For one, they are very prude with her now, not a bishoujo who is a bit sexy.
They dealt a direct hit to lolicons with her new stick body and long skirt.
Why do the costumes always look like ass?
Ugh, what is this ?
I don't even....
And that right one, is that supposed to be Pluto ? She is looking too young compared to Uranus and Neptune.
They better give her a transformation scene.
We've been waiting over 20 years for one.
Are those men
Wait, I don't understand, what exactly did she do to make lolicons hate her here?
Oh boy, here we go.
Budget. Which is funny considering how well the musicals did. They're actually very good and the non-musical scenes are pure fun and goofy hijinks. I really recommend them if you enjoy Sailor Moon and want something different.
I'm not a lolicon so I don't see the difference.
I'm confused with the last episode and this one.
Was that Neo Queen Serenity or Princess Serenity?
Last episode they called her princess but she had the crown?
And in this episode it looked like they didnt use her silver hair? It's confusing me.
So they hate a character just because she's not exposing herself as much?
Too bad for them, they can die and nobody will miss them. Not even their disappointed parents.
How dare they not show an 8 year old child wearing two dimes and a corn chip on her body!! censorship!!
Yeah these guys are pedophiles in the making
Alright, that's enough moralfaggotry for Sup Forums.
Buy yes, that's pretty much the gist of it. Also don't exaggerate with what I wanted to see her wearing with phrases like "two dimes and a corn chip xD". I just wanted her to have the same sexy clothes and skirt length that everyone else.
Or write her out of the series, if they don't make her "bishoujo" either ways.
Why do you want to see an 8 year old wearing a short skirt so badly that you want her written off if she isn't?
It just feels as if she's being shamed like this standing next to the other girls who still wear the same hot outfits.
Fuck off, you started whining in here about trivial garbage, so take what we're giving you.
I have a feeling we're being visited by that same assclown who whined about Rika and Miria's bellies in the Idolmaster Cinderella Girls anime.
I'm fine with being called a pedo, well deserved and all, just saying that no thread deserves moralfaggotry like this.
Don't turn my sickness into a flame war.
Still, as one such person, I am disappointed with what they did to Chibiusa, though it was obvious they are going to be prude about her in today's industry.
No one really cares man.
I don't think that's the right way to use the term "shaming"
I'd understand if this was any other soldier than Chibiusa, but she's designed to look like a kid.
Just admit that you want her to have a short skirt so you can have a quick fap to her instead of dancing around the subject.
Of course, but it still stings that they treat her as a kid actually now, and not a child beautiful soldier like before, or in the manga.
By that logic, all the other girls could get the same treatment as everyone is underage.
in japan the orher girls aren't underaged so I don't really care about them.
She was always treated as a kid?
in japan the orher girls aren't underaged so I don't really care about them
You are talking out of your ass now, nothing more.
The AoC is pretty much the same as in the US everywhere aside from a few regions where it's either 15 or 16.
And she was treated as a kid, yet still got proud and hot outfit, official art and pantyshots.
Don't turn my sickness into a flame war.
You started it, so reap what you sow
or in the manga.
I don't reap anything here.
The thread does, idiot.
Not really. You complained about nonsense in it unnecessarily and started hating on something just because it wasn't naked enough for you.
Sailor V animation when
S and stars are better.
I really liked chibiusa relationship with Helios though. Also Nehelenia best vilain
I think they'll do Infinity and Dream together like they did with the first two seasons, then Sailor V will be with Stars in the same way.
Ignore him. He comes into nearly every thread crying about the lack of Chibiusa fanservice.
The flashback from Chibiusa's POV in this episode was Neo Queen Serenity. Could be an error in hair color or a decision by Kon?
As for last episode, that didn't appear in the manga. I'm guessing since Serenity is officially the heir to the crystal and revived the Moon Kingdom, they wanted to reflect that on her character. She wont be queen until she marries
not that there's anything wrong with that
Can we even talk about implications? For example this was pretty straight.
New black dog doujins when?
Putting the HOT back into Hotaru.
She's not even sexy. Her head is way too big for her body. None of them really are that good looking, maybe Uranus and Hotaru, and Venus
That was still random as heck.
I for one sure don't want to know what kind of small headed amazonesses you consider hot.
liking disproportionate midgets
I guess you like the ugly, frail, tall model type.
Pretty bad taste if you ask me.
having too big of a head for your body is sexy
Everyone's entitled to shit taste
Man, I forgot how bad the first two seasons of Crystal looked. And that's not even one of the worst-looking scenes.
Uranus and Neptune's Seramyu actresses are suspicious as hell. Are they fucking or something?
Bout goddamn time.
Why are Usagi's parents letting their underage daughter sleep in the same house as her much older boyfriend?
In dream arc (manga) there is a scene where Usagi sleepover in Mamoru's house but she phoned her mother and lying by saying she was having a sleepover in Makoto's house for studying with her friends. So that might be the logical explanation why they let her.
because they're easily fooled, ie Chibiusa coming from out of nowhere, looking exactly like a pink Usagi, and having a ridiculous backstory
They're being hypnotized by using Luna-P.
she's going to grow up in this version, since it follows the manga.
I'm finishing up the Nehellania arc in Stars and im growing closer to finishing the original anime.
This is why I prefer watching longer series sometimes. It's easier to become attached to a character when you spend a long time watching the show.
I fucking love Usagi
Glad you're loving it anon.
Fuck I just reached this scene.
Redemption scenes are so well done in this show
Damn, that's one of the best episodes in the series.
stop making me sad, anon
While 3-D, the transformations were actually the better looking parts of s 1-2
mainly because you can't fuck up that badly when you're just moving a ready made model
If you compare the CG in it to, say, Precure, it's awful.
Dude. Even Jimmy Neutron had better looking CGI animation than those transformations.
The only decent one was mercury, only because of that water they used.
the only thing that I like from the S1-S2 transformation scene is the epic ost.
sadly they didn't reuse it for S3
dat transformation pen detail.
they really don't give fuck when working for S1 and S2, don't they ?
Hers and the space elves' were the best ones.
Wow, bro. You are either me or stealing my bit. I'm the only guy around here who likes the Doom Tree arc, but that's because I'm not one of those Naoko manga worshipers.
They depress me. They're all female, and they all love Stars the most because of Usagi and Seiya's friendship. It tickles their girl brains.
I'm the champion of Super S, bro. It's the Naoko manga worshipers I talked about in that hate it.
Like says, it "deviates from the manga", so they hate it and claim it has too much filler. As someone who doesn't care about the manga, I say what you say: not one single episode in Super S felt like filler. The whole season was a joy to watch.
These Naoko people are irrational about Chibiusa. Chibiusa had been wonderful since S, but since they are women who evidently have this weird little sister trauma from their own lives, they can't get over how she was in R. It triggers them to see Chibiusa have a big role. It must remind them of when they were kids and their parents gave their little siblings more attention than them.
They hate the lack of outers too, but I'm not too knowledgeable about why. I think it's because they're "deeper" characters than the inners, and they like Naoko's "deep" melodrama. These people want Sailor Moon to be a miserable emotional experience, just like the dudes who always want things to be grimdark and edgy.
Always a safe bet.
well yeah, like Naoko said the manga was more targeted at girls so it's no wonder they enjoy that more.
Personally I like the anime more, and any pairing other than Mamoru/Usagi, (like Demande/Usagi) But only because Mamoru is boring as shit
I say what you say: not one single episode in Super S felt like filler. The whole season was a joy to watch.
Another Super S lover chiming in, it really surprises me how uncommon this opinion is. The way people go on about it, you'd think every episode was "Chibiusa and friends the show", but it's nothing like that at all aside from the MC and her daughter getting a double billing as protagonists.
they are women who evidently have this weird little sister trauma from their own lives, they can't get over how she was in R
Yeah, I do despise how R handled her, but in SuperS she has a genuine maturity such that I have no idea why you'd complain about her. The biggest issue with her overall is that her existence means that, up till Stars, you know that anything that could potentially result in her not existing is just not allowed happen, which screws over so much plot and development potential.
They hate the lack of Outers too, but I'm not too knowledgeable about why.
I get why they'd be bummed at the lack of things like, Hakura and Michiru raising reborn Hotaru, but given what the anime did having them leave arguably makes more sense in its continuity. Really, the way it leaves them out really makes the events of S feel like they have finality
which Stars basically robs us of, though that's another issue. Naoko's drama, for all the faults it has with its writing, really is deep and the closest thing anime really has to Greek tragedy proper. Sailor Moon doesn't need to be "a miserable emotional experience" (nor would I argue it should be), but having large scale climactic drama is one of the best things about it. Yet precisely because of this, the honest respite SuperS provides in being character focused SoL between more dramatic plots only further affirms it in my eyes as being one of the better seasons.
Super S wasn't as bad as people were exaggerating it out to be.
I actually really enjoyed the relationship between chibiusa and helios.
The only thing that did bother me was Usagi's obsession with Mamoru, but I know that was done for humor.
The filler was a joy to watch, I don't think there's one I completely hated compared to other seasons.
I feel the only people that hate this season are, like most people said, chibiusa haters.
I'm not a Chibiusa fans, yet I still enjoy Super S.
it might be not the best season for me, but I wouldn't said it was bad at all.
今はＢａｂｙ Ｂａｂｙ ｌｏｖｅ
Ｂａｂｙ Ｂａｂｙ ｌｏｖｅ
ugliest usagi ever
The filler was a joy to watch, I don't think there's one I completely hated compared to other seasons.
And yes, that's a notable thing I have to bring up. Very little of the season is actively bad, especially compared to other seasons. Despite the lightness of the overall plot, there is just very little to honestly object to.
The first cour of episodes was surprisingly good, I'd even say shockingly so. I don't think there is a single run of episodes outside of this that are as consistently solid, to the point that I anticipated every new episode straight after finishing the last and devoured them like popcorn. What really makes it for me is that the show finally returns to the quality of focus on character that the first season had, and actively goes back to exploring the lives of its cast in ways the other seasons did only occasionally. Seeing the show actively address things like Reika's relationship with Moteki and Yuichirou's betaness was just an absolute delight.
Another thing that caught me off guard was how much I actually enjoyed the MotW. Somehow, it manages to be the one season where the MotW are so off the wall and meta that it genuinely is funny instead of just lame and repetitive.
I can't help but feel that overall, SuperS was a return to form of much of what the show lost sight of after the first season's ending and in that way is positively endearing.
I can't do it, guys. I can't bring myself to watch these Sailor Moon Crystal episodes. I got through two, and now I just can't do it any more.
Why not anon ?
It's getting good from there.
Crystal becomes more bearable when you realize this was the original QUALITY
Yep, but even the original QUALITY didn't fucked up this bad.
I'm assuming because the lolis don't have beach ball sized tits
Eye purifying for the abomination above.
B-but DFC is the one reason that make lolis delicious....
Holy shit, is that even supposed to be Sailor Neptune under Masahiro Ando? SM looked best under Shimogasa, Cutey Honey Flash still looks amazing, and whoever was responsible for the SuperS movie.
Crystal season 3 Usagi might just be my favorite Usagi. Even over the original one.
She's cute, and mature, yet not too over mature or childish.
Let's settle this now:
Hotaru or Mistress 9?
This is also why I thought S3 Usagi is the best Usagi compared to overly childish Usagi in classic anime and over-serious one in S1&S2. They balanced her personality now.
But Mistress 9 did what I wished for during ALL of the original series. She fucking murdered Chibiusa!
Oh yeah, I forgot she did that.
Then I'll change my vote.
Yeah but she doesn't stay dead so Hotaru wins
Who will win in dark side battle ?
Black Lady or Mistress 9 ?
Mistress 9 has the better base loli so she will win.
How could you want Chibi-Usa to die? She's so cute.
She was fucking annoying in the original series.
Hotaru on the other hand may be the reason for my pedophilia.
This dude makes me cringe, but his videos are hypnotic as shit
may be the reason for my pedophilia
Doom Tree was great, fun as fuck (based Moonlight Knight) and the vilains likeable.
anyone can share this?
Sorry for that burp
Yeah, well that burp is gonna be the last thing people see OR hear.
For the full movie IDK
But somewhere in exhentai, I ever see the galleries for the screencaps of that.
Here it is; the screencaps gallery
(Btw, you will need an account to be able to view it.)
This needs to be updated to include directors for SMC1-2 and 3.
Let's make a petition to Toei ?
There's clips of the movie up on the Sankaku 'booru equivalent.
I don't get how anyone could defend this.
For what? To make SMC3 just like 1-2?
Nope, to reboot the S1&S2 in S3 style.
One of the most well known animes of all time
Lacks the budget to avoid this
As cool as that would be, and as often as something like fucking Evangelion gets refurbished and remastered, fat chance. They most likely want to sweep it under the rug and move on, and hope you just continue to buy the merchandise.
She doesn't count. Otherwise, it's just not fair.
Honestly Masahiro Ando should be shot on sight.
He was good in classic and R, but it was clear he had to leave by the time S started.
Trusting him with plot heavy episodes was a bad idea from the original staff
I don't get the Sailor V manga
you don't get?
Like you don't understand, or you don't own it?
If it's the latter you can easily find them at any local bookstore, mate.
I don't understand it. it's all fart jokes and perversion
Is anyone having problems pre-ordering this?
I did the preorder for #2 and #3 but apparently this one can't be shipped outside of Japan? Help
Why are you buying it from amazon in the first place?
you'd have better luck when it comes out on CDJapan
Because from what I understand, this limited edition is an Amazon JP exclusive "【Amazon.co.jp限定】"
Pretty sure it's the same on CDJapan and Amiami, first press release bonus.
who is best husbando and why is it Demande?
dubs of truth
Is Sailor Saturn the best looking Senshi?
He is rather very
When you finally get dat growth spurt
Is that what she really said in Japanese on that scene? I felt it way too out of context for her to be that rude.
Classic tragedy is all about how it's written, not the actual plot. If you just take SM based on the narrative, it's only interesting as heavily obfuscated sci-fi, e.g., speculating on how the apparently magical elements function as highly advanced technology. The sailor suits are nanotech, Saturn is an AI failsafe, the Illusionary Silver Crystal is a hyper-advanced quantum computer also running on nanotech, etc. Lensman for chicks.
Me on the right

Classic tragedy is all about how it's written, not the actual plot.
How it's written is certainly important, but the writing needs a plot to hang itself off, and this is something that cannot be downplayed. Aristotle, Wagner and Nietzsche each recognized the importance of plot. It is plot that enables the free-play of morality to be introduced into the rhythmic drama of tragedy to achieve its full effect. It's the possibility of this moral aspect, and the the tension caused by its ambiguity, that really makes it work.
Please don't tell me you're Lensman-kun.
Which episode is this ?
What is written in that letter ?
better than perfect!
If I was Saturn I would feel cheated. Sure she has the power o nuke a planet but she will die. 2-3 season later we get galactic soldiers with planet crushing powers who does not die.
Cover for 3nd CD
something along the lines of "who on earth are you?"
Crunchyroll subs have been really shit this new season, and it's dissappointing since the show is actually watchable and good now
Supposed to be 3rd. ftfy
Any bigger resolution for this ?
Apparently there will be a special celebration event in Niconico for Usagi & Chibiusa's birthday on 30 June.
nice! can't wait to see it
I think it might actually be beneficial that she dies along with everyone after destroying the world.
She'd be pretty messed up in the head if she survived all those nukings that she had to do.
Would be cool if they announce Dream arc at the event!
That's what I hope too.
The announcement only said that there will be a first performance of the new cast of Sailor Musical.... But who knows we will get a little "surprise"
What is this ?
I don't even....
El príncipe Demande.
you think they're gonna do the gorey Hotaru body explosion from the manga?
I don't think so.
I remember they even toned down Usagi's nightmare in S1 where Mamoru's face turned into skeleton.
He is here to wet Serenity's mangos
I understand now why I immediately liked Homura and consider her the best meguca.
Dat Dark Mercury.
Taken an interest to 1000 years old woman.
Said woman already have a 900 years old daughter.
That guy have a serious milf fetish and a literral motherfucker.
Holy shit, how is this thread still alive?
dat Sailor Luna costume
How come they're getting away with this ?
It's been up for at least 4 days. I don't know how we did it.
I guess updating at just the right time helped.
I hope they fix that hair in the remake.
He just knows who the most suitable partner is.
I always had a thing for Demande/BlackLady or Demande/Saphir instead
The power of Silver Crystal keep this thread alive.
Btw, I'm the OP and I'm also amazed.
I never thought this thread will keep going this long.
mfw that Usagi
What is it about red/black that makes a girl so cute?
We did it for her
bump limit will be reached soon. Should we make another thread when that happens?
Usually I didn't like it when Nakamura boarded episodes in the old anime, but he drew Hotaru pretty cute in this scene.
Why not ? Sailor Moon thread is always welcomed.
Just wait until the next episode airs
Momoiro Clover Z
Oh god no.
Apparently they will sing the 3rd version of the S3 opening
What are your favorite parts of the Sailor V manga?
I'm more curious about the new ending song that will be sung by the VA of Mamoru.
OP here, the thread is about to reach the limit soon.
Just want to say thank you for those who joined for the discussions in this thread for these 5 days.
It's been fun, let's meet again next 2 days (or in any Sailor Moon thread after this one)
I can't never get enough with the bromance between Usagi and Minako in the classic anime.
Sadly, we will (almost) never see it in Crystal.
Hope they will make the one where Minako goes into Rei's school though.
Minako went into Rei's school in the manga? Never knew this.
I also assumed that Minako and Usagi don't have a very close relationship in the manga like they did in the 90's anime
thank you for the fun thread, OP!
There's a special chapter where Minako is tempted to go into Rei's school because she want to became a cool beauty like Rei.
She wasn't officially enrolled to there though, she just using her transformation tool to transform her uniform into Rei's school uniform and slip into the school.
Well, the limit have been reached.
Gonna close it with a smile.
