Are there any reasons why Catalonia wants to be independent apart from obvious economical one?
Liam Parker
It's all a cover so the Generalitat can keep being corrupt without the population noticing, they just caught Puigdemont in a corruption scandal. Investigate Artur Mas and Jordi Pujol Ferrusola.
Jonathan Gomez
Yes, indoctrination and leftist propaganda for the last 30 years
Julian White
You could say the economic situation is only an amplifier for the nationalistic sentiment. Put it this way: if the economic situation was decent, the independentists movement would lose a big, big part of their argument. However, they do have a distinct culture and there are always nationalists where there's a nation. Catalonia has always been quite different and it's not the first time they certainly disagree with Spain in more than one way.
Economic and corruption issues in Spain are easy platforms for them to build nationalistic sentiment on.

What have we stolen? You can't conquer vast swathes of territory in the Americas and then claim "no fair, no fair" when another power overtakes you.

Historically it should be obvious why. Right now it's because of drunk british tourists, the fact that you never miss the chance of calling us moors...
Ethan Hernandez
Don't think any Brit irl has ever used the word "moor" to describe a Spaniard. >drunk British tourists Can't argue with that. >historically What? Competition between colonial powers?
Kevin Gomez
>divorced Catalina de Aragon >sunk our ships with gold >supported independence of our colonies (although we helped the US with their independence, but it's worthy to note that the US were also anglos at that time and backstabbed us and also supported independence of our colonies) >US: Imposed the Monroe Doctrine on south america >US: Falseflagged USS Maine to take Cuba... from us >Eternal competition (see Portugal) >Black Legend

Americans were still Anglos after the independence even if they were not British, If you want IRL Spaniards to like you, you just have to solve the drunk tourists issue, because it's the thing people see the most and the one that affects them the most. About Sup Forums, there's usually only hate towards America because of the reasons previously mentioned, there's usually no beef with anglos unless you start it first, we have a bunch of anglo-spaniards in the Discord.
