Just finished watching Ping Pong the other day.
How the fuck was this pretentious?
You guys told me this shit was pretentious.
Just finished watching Ping Pong the other day.
How the fuck was this pretentious?
You guys told me this shit was pretentious.
Your first week here OP?
>trusting Sup Forums
Be glad you watched it anyway and decided to ignore a bunch of plebs that think shit like k-on is actuallly good.
I've said many times that it's not pretentious, why didn't you listen?
>k-on
>bad
Ok, I think we are rushing things now.
It's not pretentious it's just garbage.
Any show with Western appeal will be receive a heavy amount of shitposting, try and take it with a grain of salt.
Because it was directed by le artsy Anime man. So memes and shitposting basically
It really upsets me how so many people on Sup Forums will disregard anything with a unique art style as pretenious. Watch Yuasa's other stuff if you haven't already, OP.
The subject matter isn't pretentious. People called it pretentious because of the art style, and it's easy to see why. It's strange, it jars against most other modern anime offerings. It's different.
Whether the unique artsyle is a mark of pretention or genius is up to the person watching, but acting like you can't see where this tag came from makes you look foolish.
You literally don't know what pretentious means if you think it can apply to artstyles so you're in no position to call anyone foolish.
The shit posters started doing it when the popularity was increasing, It wasn't a matter of style or anything like that... it was plain shitposting.
People call it pretentious because they think it's a big boy word
>pretentious artstyle
This meme needs to stop.
>k-on
>anything other than timeless masterpiece
now I see why OP doesn't trust your opinions
>Ping Pong
>not pretentious
I love K-On and Ping Pong.
Have you even seen K-On? S2 is gold. Maybe you're just a faggot.
peco's whole arc was fucking heavy. finished it two days ago myself
>S2 is gold
Maybe if you have shit taste.
I like both, you fucking nerd. K-ON > ping pong though.
This show splits Sup Forums between people who generally like it and people who hate it because they haven't watched it/hate the art style/think it's pretentious..
Literally any time a show gets high praise, it's going to attract the accusations of "pretentious." Especially when it has a weird art style like this.
People that don't like K-On are fucking faggots.
I mean, I like Ping Pong, but it's just your standard sports story told with some wacky art and animation. K-On ushered in an entire new era of CGDCT that was hinted at by Azumanga and formulated by Lucky Star.
Also, any anime with cute girls is automatically superior to something without cute girls.
>standard
I thought the whole robot becomes a monster in the sport to revitalize his friend's passion to be pretty unique honestly.
The manga was ok, did not like the anime.
The design is pretty unusual for anime, particularly since recent anime design has been trending toward more minimalism in design. It's also not helped by the fact that it had some horrendous inbetweens which regardless of how much you like the style of the design are completely undefendable.
The "pretentious" part comes from the fact that the story boils down to a very simple sports drama that honestly isn't that unique or memorable, but somehow fans of the anime see the unique art as something that somehow elevates it to some ridiculous position. The manga didn't make any waves and the anime doesn't really change or add anything significant to the main story instead choosing to flesh out the side characters to extend the length.
I want to penetrate Azunyan's tight little asshole and spray thick cum on her innocent childish face.
K-on is ok.
>K-On ushered in an entire new era of CGDCT that was hinted at by Azumanga and formulated by Lucky Star.
>Also, any anime with cute girls is automatically superior to something without cute girls.
This is shitposting.
The manga was fine but I can't stand the anime of K-On, and it really boils down to the character design. I simply can't stomach how bad the anime character design is for K-On and just how much resemblance I see to it in all of their work thereafter. I know it isn't the same guy in most cases, i know Kyoani has a ton of different designers but everything since K-On has had an eerie semblance to me.
>this whole thread
>this is the average K-on fan
I expected no less from such a brainless fanbase.
>listening to this board
Cmon. They still say they liked Cross Ange.
Matsumoto's works are very good overall you can't go wrong with him, if Sup Forums actually knew shit about manga they wouldn't have shat on Ping Pong
Well some portion of them do. Sup Forums was the only place even talking about the anime announcement. Had Hox and everything.
I didn't claim K-on was great you dyslexic moron, i only said that i want to fuck Azusa.
the art style is so refreshing in this day and age when compared to the moe bullshit that studios shit out every season
seriously you're a fucking retarded loser who would be better off dead if you think k on even compares with ching chong
Get in line buddy
Wow you mad bro?
Artstyle triggers autists.
le troll face xD
I love both K-On and Ping Pong. But K-On plays a lot on people's emotions, which is why they like it a lot. I think Lucky Star is objectively better, since it just as fun and doesn't need to use pathos in order to do so. But I like K-On more anyways.
And Ping Pong is anything but a standard sports anime. I loved the concepts of friendship and talent it introduced. I just wished the show had explored more in depth the idea of being really talented at something you do not love. We don't see enough of that. And in a way that isn't: "Oh, look at me. I am so talented without trying, but who cares, I am cool."
Someone recommend some shows for a person who enjoyed ping pong
I can't believe there are people on Sup Forums that think, in a visual medium, visuals can't be pretentious in an off themselves.
