This was fine actually provided that oil prices were high and that the now nationalised company made money.

The company keeps hiring more and more people, chaves fails to diversify the economy until 90% of the countries exports are oil and all of these exports are by this state owned firm 2hich is now hiring just about everyone in Venezuela.

Chaves is popular more than ever has his people are hired by his oil firm, getting massive wages.

95% of Venezuela exports are now oil, and the majority of Venezuela hired by the national oil company.

On day, oil prices drop, and they just keep dropping. Venezuela is fucked as 95% of their economy is dependent on oil, hundreds of thousands lose their jobs immediately as the national oil firm is unable to pay all those ven3zuelands they hired.
