These ratings couldn't be more wrong considering how much Basara improves as a character between volumes 8 and 9 since the plot finally focuses on him instead of Mio.

If you account for how the MC acts around girls, to their goals, overall personality and ability to handle himself, he's deserving of that spot. Mind you that I mentioned the best harem MC's basically. Shidou has become tremendously interesting now that his true personality has started to emerge. Issei is downright hilarious and has a good set of goals. Akatsuki is really fucking awesome and Kazuki is the pinnacle of what a harem MC can possibly be.

Well he's logged barely any time, so yeah.

One thing BorN DID get right as far as original stuff goes, is set up some foreshadowing that was missing from the LNs. It managed to work very well in the LNs, but foreshadowing it makes a good deal of sense imho.

Yeah. They foreshadowed Hero Faction, Raynare trauma, Issei vs Sairaorg, Sirzechs true form kinda, Asia and Fafnir's relationship and even the Boosted Gear replica in a way. It's a shame they still haven't said anything about S4. I really hope it doesn't become the new Index 3.
