He didnt put it into the spotlight, it was manufactured outrage that was responded to because the media acted like it was newsworthy for weeks. They may have baited a response, but initially all the WH did was say they had record viewership worldwide, which was true iirc. The Left responded predictably by attacking a strawman, and stripping all context away form those two images besides what they wanted to present.
