It was great

It has its flaws, but it is indeed great. The TV series was better, but in terms of overall contribution to the franchise, Rebellion makes the whole thing more appreciable. Admittedly it falls flat in a vacuum, though.

Kyoko ultimately is drawn to the "seigi no mikata" shtick that Sayaka has, because she lost that part of herself before. Homura completely lacks that. Kyoko and Homura have mutual respect for each other because they're pragmatic and skilled. Madoka and Homura play off each other because they mutually inspire each other and push each other into action.

The deal is she never was as bitchy or murderous as she first seemed. It was a front from the beginning. Look at her very first interaction, she was honestly upset and concerned at Sayaka wasting her time hunting a familiar when she needed to stockpile grief seeds as a rookie. I wouldn't be surprised if Sayaka wasn't the first magical girl she goaded into looking out for herself.
