When haki became relevant the series turned almost instantly into shit.

No, but Oda wrote himself into a corner with these logia fruits and had to figure out a way to deal with them so we got Haki. He could only go so far with the Water/Sand and Rubber/Lightning counters and using seastone for everything would probably get annoying. So you take the hit creatively in order to get past an obstacle he created.

Though the Haki thing that bugs me the most is the CoC one. Since putting limitations about having to be born "special" to have it turns me off Haki more than it otherwise would.

Will we ever see another genuine face like that from Luffy?

That would get old quickly. Fighting logias would be a pain in the ass, and the fights people seem to the enjoy most are straight up brawls like Lucci/Luffy anyway

I think it had a positive impact on the series. There are still a few ways it could have been executed better. First of all it would have been nice if we saw characters go through supernatural kung-fu training in order to acquire it. It would also be nice if armor Haki was restricted to being used 2 or 3 times during a single fight. The manga could show Luffy thinking "alright I can only use Haki two more times, I gotta make it count" and we would wonder whether he would use it for offense or defense, and we would have a clearer idea of who is winning or losing the fight.

If you reread East Blue and early Grand Line, Oda was actually going for complicated heavily choreographed fights with lots of inventive counters.

Enies Lobby was the beginning of the decline when it just turned into 'imma punch your fist and you gonna punch my fist'.

Take Dofflamingo's fight. In early One Piece you can damn bet he wouldn't have been that strong but his strings would have been unbreakable. And finding the counter to that or breaking the strings would have been the pinnacle of the entire fight.

Yeah but it would only lead to abuse where the power of Nakama allows him to use it as many times as he want if he really wants it. Killing any sort of tension tight resource management might generate.

There isn't any drawback to using Haki, right? Like it hasn't been established that they can only use it a limited amount of times, so they should use it on every attack from now on.

It's my personal belief that the counters never did shit and Luffy was just unconsciously tapping into dat Haki. I mean the dude can make stone turn to sand, do you really think a few drops of water really fuck him up that much? The blood thing was bullshit too, it would coagulate too quickly to do shit. She can literally make haki fists from anywhere, including other people's bodies. She can make them huge if she wants.

The only reason that wouldn't be a high tier fruit is if the user didn't know how to use it.

She takes damage if a single one is hurt. A strong enemy would just grab one and shred it.

It seems size is mostly irrelevant now in One Piece. Used to be a thing but not since the last part of Grand Line.

You know the Oda's readers by now. He gave Zoro an intellectual challenge with Pica instead of a physical one that required him to borrow abilities from guys like Orlumbus to execute his plan. People trashed it and said Zoro doesn't get good fights anymore, that's why Oda is heading into DBZ territory.

The saving grace is that there's so many interesting fighters that it's somehow enjoyable to keep discovering new crazy power. But then they devolve into set damage attacks like it's some kind of RPG.

Maybe this is why Oda now focuses on huge battles and tons of new characters at the expanse of making existing characters shallow and fights rushed.

He could have just jumped from roof to roofs at super speed. That's the problem with Oda making characters way too strong, this could have happened and no one would have bat an eye. It takes away a lot from the suspense when he's inconsistent with the distances and character's abilities.

It gave a way for Luffy to pierce logia powers.

The only impact it had at all was explaining how normal people could fight logia users, so in that I suppose it's good. Every application other than that was unnecessary though.

Nothing Oda has said means she can't do that. In other words, she can definitely do it based on what we know. It's just a case of if Oda is willing or has thought of it. Ichiji was jealous of Sanji getting all his father's attention even though he is the first son and most loyal. Their Dadji was interested in Sanji more since he is the only one who has the mirrored eyebrows like his father. Probably some successor bullshit.

Ichiji was relieved when Sanji left but got pissed again when his father wouldn't stop looking for that traitor brother.

Look at him now. Working hard on a Germa mission, and now he has to drop everything to go to his shit little brother's wedding, because that's all his father cares about. Not Ichiji.
