Meanwhile, after Guts totally abandons Griffith because "muh meaning in life" he thinks he can just waltz on after committing treason. Therefore,Griffith becomes a cripple and a mute all because of Guts selfish desires. Griffith then punishes Guts for his betrayal by sleeping with his girlfriend (not raping,we all know Casca loved it. Just look at her face) and then Griffith returns to Guts asking him if he wishes to help him build this Utopia and Guts starts crying about "muh Waifu".

So tl;dr Guts is what is wrong with the world. Selfish and unloyal. Griffith is trying to create a world where people like Guts no longer terrorise the weak.
