03 is good, but Brotherhood is a masterpiece.

'03 mixed up the names, right?

The manga.

I prefer brotherhood , but watch 03 first you'll get double FMA. Both are great though.

03 for me. Better atmosphere, better developed Hughes and chimera girl, different ending for their ends, and the 7 sin guys made more sense as failed human resurrections.

Brotherhood is we want the dragon ball powerlevel audience.

'03 is we want the edgy teenage Naruto audience.

The second half of 03 was extremely bad.

'03 for the soundtrack. Brotherhood for a more faithful adaptation.
Seriously, anyone that says that '03 has more than just a better soundtrack is some faggot ass edgemeister contrarian, especially since '03 bastardizes the fucking badass known as King Bradley.

03 had better animation and better plot
Brotherhood had the better ending.

just read the manga

>muh edge

The only thing Brotherhood brings to the table is that it's more lighthearted. It's a standard battle shounen with paper thin villains and better pacing, if the only action anime you've been exposed to is the like of DBZ. I actually think highly of 03, though if it had indeed been like Brotherhood, I wouldn't give it much more thought than I have D. Gray-Man; I wouldn't watch 03 in the same way that I would something like Naruto or, for that matter, Brotherhood (enjoying the mindless fight scenes while fully acknowledging that the writing is shit).

Brotherhoods appeal lies primarily in the far more copious action, faithfulness to the manga, and in the fact that it actually satisfied the shipperfags. The characters are well regarded because they're "cool," rather than because they're particularly well characterized or well written.

I don't know why either is regarded all that highly, but I prefer the '03 version. Simply because it knew how to balance tension and comedy. Like jesus christ trained soldiers and mega powerful demonic monsters shouldn't be cracking jokes while exchanging blows with eachother. The whole time while watching brotherhood I never truly felt scared for any characters, except Hughes, and the original version even handled him better. Like fucking christ not every character has to comment on Ed's height! Overall even though brotherhood followed the manga fairly faithfully, it just didn't know what to do with the atmosphere.

The message I got from 03 is that nothing in life is for free. You got to live with the result of your choices. Even in the movie ending which could be consider an happy ending for the elric brothers has them leaving everything they know behind even if they are together again.

Brotherhood is objectively better than '03. People who prefers '03 are just memeing.

>Anything I don't like is a meme

Brotherhood,
albeit 03 had a good soundtrack, Brotherhood and better openings, a better conclusion, and over all story arc.

Also better characterization and overall more ominous villains. 03's Dante, Lust and Gluttony were meh, at best; they didn't seem as compel

But Brootherhood's Pride, Father, and Wrath were domineering and actually incited primal fear within me (especially pride) while watching this anime. I honestly never felt that while watching any show.
