What the fuck was his problem?

what the fuck was his problem?

Tried to be logical and rational in a universe powered by determination and sheer nerve.

He was a sensible man in an irrational world.

Got too frustrated once he realized all of his decisions were wrong and tried to play his hand even though that was the case.

He needed to grit those teeth

planet gonna get destroyed

He didn't have a bro.

He lied, people died.

True dat. Chouji got too busy getting with Karui.

Nobody ever told him how pretty he was.

ROSSIU DID NOTHING WRONG

>hey all of team gurren (including me as your co pilot in the gurren lagann) went after the spiral king with the intent to kill him
>haha but only you did a warcrime for some reason
>we may have completed all of our objectives by fighting the power but we can not for some reason try to row row row fight this power this time
>i sentence you to death lol because people are a little bit mad and protesting
>my dear friend that has saved my life and all of humanity form living in dirty, dank holes

>i sentence you to death lol because people are a little bit mad and protesting
Reminds me of dumbass Trump supporters

Duno, but it stopped me ever finishing that series. Every time I start it I remember he exists and just stop watching a few episodes in.

I fucking hate that cunt.

Aand it was a nice quiet little thread until this shitter had to dump such poor quality bait.

Not even; he became a token corrupt politician and a fucking moron.

Simon was sentenced to death because when he killed the Anti-spirals, they literally exploded on top of the city and killed an assload of people.

CRAWLING IN MY SKIN

As opposed to what, letting the other mechas do nothing against the anti-spiral?

Simon saved the city in exchange for collateral damage, and was rewarded with death, instead of a fake prison sentence.

Rossiu did everything right

>Rossiu
>Piece of shit that did everything wrong and lived the best life
>Simon
>Did everything right and lost his waifu and became a hobo that everyone forgot.
Why was this allowed?

He was fucking retarded

He was the only logical person in the show. All the decisions that he made were for the good of the people

Anti-CHAD propaganda

He wasn't genre savy enough.

Welcome to people. Sometimes they get mad when people they care about die in favor of other people. I'm not saying Simon was wrong, just that people weren't pissed off for no reason.

Autism

He wasn't really corrupt. He's not doing anything for personal gain, be rather for the greater good.

Of course, the viewer was shown that what he did was incorrect and that his means didn't justify the ends, that's why some people think he's some massive evil asshole.

He became just like the priest in his village. He tried to help the majority by sacrificing the minority. In most cases that's the best a guy can do but in SPIRAL POWER LAND he gets shit on for not betting everyone's lives on a plot armor mech.

The shitty writing was his problem.

>Simon, the legendary hero, saves the town AGAIN at the cost of some explosions
>people suddenly lose their shit and demand justice against the person who is literally the last hope for mankind
>Rossiu gives in immediately despite Simon doing nothing wrong

He was just doing whatever it took to ensure the majority of mankind lived even if it was immoral. Its kind of hilarious that years ago he was a religious nut.

He was deliberately using Simon as a fallguy in order to shift blame away from himself. He was also incredibly deceptive. Sure, he was trying to save lives, but he was doing so in a manner that was so incredibly retarded that Grey's Law applies.

At least he had the common decency to attempt suicide afterwards.

>Simon: FUCK antispirals
>Rossiu: REEEEEEE you can't say that you antispiralphobe! We need to let more antispirals into the country!

...

People still died because he rushed in and attacked over the city. Rossiu tried to stop him from being so reckless and he didn't. Their deaths are still on him Simon.

>to shift blame away from himself
What blame?
No, honestly. Haven't watched it in a long time.

>People still died because he rushed in and attacked over the city

Do you seriously believe this? More people would've died if he did nothing. It wasn't just an explosion waiting to happen, it was a fucking Antispiral ship.

Collateral damage is collateral damage.

The whole Anti-Spiral fiasco.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, Rossiu was effectively waging war on people who chose to remain underground completely behind everyone else's back.

He was an idiot in an extremely straightforward world.

He could have i donno fucking rammed the thing out to the cites limits? Even if it didn't explode into tiny bombs the wreckage would have rekt a city block.

>He was deliberately using Simon as a fallguy in order to shift blame away from himself.
Not away from himself, it was just to put the blame on someone, and Simon, not willing to actual lead and whose acting some believe are responsible for civilian casualties, was the perfect person to take the blame.

It's a dick move, sure, but it still wasn't something he did for personal gain and was shown to regret even having to do so even before him plan failed.

>When there's a 1,000,000 the planet will die
>Not wanting to check up on the planets population
It was a bit fucked he kept forcing them out but hey no one said he was perfect.

He thought he was living in a rational, logical world.

Also Simon wasn't taking his leader job seriously like he was. Simon is more like a General then a government guy. along with the rest of team gurren.

They barely knew what they were dealing with. And there was no way he could've moved that thing.

whats up with all the ttgl threads all of a sudden

it's a good show but it's so entry level

it's almost as we're having a large influx of newfag

is it officially summer now?

IN a logical world he did nothing wrong other then Be_A_Dick_To_His_Friends

>And there was no way he could've moved that thing.

But he did. After the explosions.

Exactly they knew nothing and he just attacked it. Then lots of people died. And it can be moved

He was going off of Lord Genome's word and nothing else. Sure, that much was right, but his actions were awfully extreme for hearsay.

He was also doing this behind everyone's back, instead of organizing a more robust investigation and preparing defenses.

There's a difference between "imperfect" and "retarded." Rossiu does not act rationally.

I'm not saying what Simon did was all wrong. I'm saying it wasn't quite right either.

>enemy says something cryptic
>everyone ignores it
>someone gets fucked as a result

That sounds like a lot of anime.

Rossiu almost always acts Rationally. Lord gnome had no reason to lie. It was a blatant warning that everyone else was ignoring but him. He did what had to be done.

he was religion

He's the most fuckable male.

The rational thing to do would have been collaboration, not condemnation.

He was the necessary evil.

When they hit 1,000,000 no one was ready. From what the show gives you there were still a lot of people underground. He probably thought they were still a bit off till that millionth baby.

Don't remember, was he actually doing it behind their back or was he just doing his thing and no one noticed cause the rest of the gang didn't take their job seriously. Not surprising the ones that did became loyal to Rossiu cause he wasn't fucking around.

And really, Genome directly told Simon about the 1 million limit he really should had been on top of that. It now makes me question the ending, the anti spiral before dying also asked Simon to take care of the universe and the fucker goes on his homeless journey while leaving Rossiu to do handle the rest.

How would the limit be controlled if they actually gave a shit?

Sacrificial offers? Soylent green? The purge?

He was the middle ground between cowards like the Spriral King who just rolled over and accepted their fates and overpowered guys like Simon that are bound to start the Spiral Nemesis

I think they would have done what Rossiu's village elder did/what Lord Genome did.
Maybe

he went on his homeless journey because he realized hes shit at being a government official. And to possibly suppress all the spiral power he has.

His rationale is a little sketchy but understandable.

What I don't understand is why he would've chosen death for his long-time friend instead of fucking lifetime incarceration for the hero of Earth. It boggles the mind that this asshole decided that the newly liberated Earth give it's greatest hero the ultimate punishment.

I would say he was the opposite, everyone had blind faith in Simon and just believed he would do his spiral miracle thing. He was trying to find solutions to problems in logical and reality grounded ways

pftth

Because earths greatest hero was still just another human. He caused the death of those people. Ridiculous or not he needed to be held accountable. The law apples to all. Hero or hobo.

Which is dangerous, a spiral civilization could rise and become as powerful as Simon and if he isn't around to make sure they don't suppress their power they destroy the universe.

Its irresponsible to destabilize a working system and then abandon it, I guess we are supposed to assume Rossiu is a fit guardian of the universe despite never really been shown so.

My point is that Rissole was effectively supreme commander. He could've made the punishment a hotdog eating contest with the reanimated head of Lord Jerome but he settled on the fucking death penalty. It's insanity to simply end the life of the strongest person on the planet, especially with the advent of a new threat you know almost nothing about.

No he fucking didn't. The anti-spirals caused those deaths. Sure, he was hasty, but collectively they had zero fucking intel, so he neutralized the threat as quickly as possible. There's no way he could have known the extent of collateral damage.

Its not like hes gone and died. Hes probably still just hangin around on earth.

It's not like Simon was 5 minutes from execution. He was literally kept in prison the entire time for that reason.

And then have the people riot because the top brass abuses its power? Nah they were already super pissed

The plan was to let him die when the anti-spirals razed the Earth, while the people loaded on the ship escaped.

>haha I was just kidding!

He would've been put to death if everything went as planned.

Incarcerating someone for life instead of killing them is not an abuse of power. Not in any society with a modicum of mercy.

I'm not saying it wasn't them too. The people blamed him. They were rioting and Rossiu had no time to deal with that with the looming threat.

What an autistic opinion, I hope you aren't serious.

Reminder that the peoples hero turn out to be a coward

Seeing as they have a death penalty i cant see the people being happy without his blood.

>Not in any society with a modicum of mercy.

This society existed for, maybe, 5 years - at the most.

A fair point. It was a very new society so the barbarism and bloodthirstiness of the people would be much higher than a modern society. They were living in caves prior to that. Some of them did think old gunmen were gods.

That said, I would've liked a little more exposition surrounding the decision to sentence him to death, instead of just that one scene where Rossiu is on the verge of tears, adamant that it's the only solution.

Although, having said that, I remember that he did try to kill himself over the whole thing.

Its not like he did all this shit because he wanted too. He did what he thought was a necessary evil to save mankind. He made the hard decisions. I just wish he figure out sooner that in that work you could just drill the fuckin questions.

*Figured

Yeah, I'm sure Simon could've used the drill to quell the masses or something. After fighting together his lack of faith in Simon left something to be desired.

I get that, but his course of action was utterly retarded. He should have been working with the others from the start instead of plotting behind their backs.

Yeah his drill did a whole lot in those 7 years of him pretty much starting a fuckin country. I'm sure Simon helped a lot with all the logistics and shit. suuuure.

As someone said earlier in the thread. I'm not sure it was behind their backs. I think its just they didn't care enough to look into what he was doing. None of them were really good at their government jobs. Its also only stated the things he held back were the forcing of people to live above ground and the gnomes head.

No one did their jobs. How could he work with any of them? Was it even really a secret?

Oh yeah, you mean the country that would never have had a chance at existing without him busting his ass, right?

>Implying that people would have left their cave homes if not for Rossiu's leadership
Simon is a great guy. Hes not a good government official. Not a good supreme commander. He needs to be in the fight not behind it.

Growing up.

He pretty much became the grown up of the group, which meant that as a grown up he didn't buy it for one second that being awesome would save the day.

Nobody will follow just a solider, and nobody will follow just a diplomat. Simon has a good balance of charisma and fighting ability, which work well for a leadership role. He knew that he wasn't a great diplomat, because doing the right thing is really all he's good at. This is why Rossieu ends up in the diplomat position, and yet he still manages to lose sight of everything that got them where they are. Heart, courage, and the need to stand against oppression, not be covered by it. He tried to cheat his way out of a bad situation by placing blame instead of fighting for what really mattered. Rossieu was never a bad guy, only mislead by fear.

Am I the only person alive who didn't enjoy this shit?

Yes, now kill yourself so there's none left.

Why did Kittan have to transport Gurren Lagann when it could've moved by itself and went to Simon?

no, it's just an over the top shonen disguised as a "clever" parody of previous genres.

>what the fuck was his/her problem?
