Can someone here explain the perverted American right-wing fixation on labeling everything that they don't like 'socialist' or 'leftist'?
There are NO SOCIALIST COUNTRIES in the world today! Don't use the term 'socialist' as an umbrella term, that's just not right. In fact, all of these countries that you usually criticize are actually extremely right-wing and fascistic. China's economy, for a example, is so laissez-faire that it actually puts Single-Payer-less US to shame. Venezuela is a perfect definition of a fascist country; it stands against all major relevant Marxist ideas. The same applies to North Korea, which is just a 21-st century extension of the Japanese Fascism (and nowhere NEAR socialist/communist/left-wing). The only countries that are somewhat left-wing today are the developed Scandinavian/Northern European democracies and Canada, but you really can't use them as your typical Fox 'News' talking points, huh?

It is because kids don't pay attention is school. Especially not in history classes, arguably the most important thing to pay attention to if you hope to discuss politics with any sort of success. Parents here have pretty much just handed their kids over to the school system for 30 years and blamed teachers for their undisciplined little shits being fucking retarded when (and if) they graduate high school.
Those of us who payed attention or took advanced history classes generally turn out somewhat well versed though.
