I think it's normal to have these many ideas thrown around, and subsequently trimmed down. I remember a couple of stuff in early KnK materials that didn't make it into the show or even the subsequent movies.

The visuals in KnK's anime are very different from the CM, I wonder if VEG will be the same.

Probably won't be the only thing that will change. In the LN for this show, all the phantoms are wild hostile creatures, as per those in ep 1, 5, 11 etc. Only in the adaptation itself did they introduce these humanoid phantoms, who are not only almost harmless beings, but sometimes benevolent too.
Not to mention KyoAni also added some subtle marks to these phantoms so they can be differentiated from normal humans. That Enigma didn't have spirals on her body probably means she's originally some girl they plucked off the street.

I don't know much about VEG, but if they added new original stuff it's probably for the better though, like the cute phantoms here, or Latifa not being blind and the fairies being a lot more prominent in Amagi, or even those 4 or so original girls in Chuuni.

I can't confirm this, but Hyouka and probably Nichijou is their only straight forward adaptation, and those aren't their copyright, everything else has a number of changes one way or another regardless of quality. They probably made these changes so whoever that buys both medias don't experience the same thing again

They still did it to Hyouka, somewhat. They didn't animate one of the characters that would have appeared by episode 19 or so, and they made Chitanda look like a retard.

KyoAni portrayed Chitanda like the regular ojou airhead. In the novels, she participates and offer her opinions a lot more than in the anime, specially on the mysteries.
