I've been wondering this for a while, but is it better to watch the series or the movie?
Ian Wright
>shoujo >40 years old Gee
Carson Diaz
Read the manga, then watch the series and the movie, but only if you are familiar with the earlier works of 出﨑 統.
Jordan Green
Why does it matter? Is good no matter how popular it is.
Watch the series.
Leo Williams
The only people who watch it these days do it for historical reasons. That should tell you a lot.
Aiden Hill
>tfw the second season will never be subbed or have a bluray WHY
Elijah Hall
>How the fuck is this not more popular? Because sports are for faggots.
Carter Myers
I am not a fan of sports anime, although I did watch some of it in my youth. It's just not to my taste.
John Johnson
Where do I start with Dezaki? I don't feel like watching Joe because I've already read the manga.
Nicholas Butler
haha fagger
Andrew Perry
Just watch what you want dude no one gives a shit.
Wyatt Ramirez
...
Josiah Johnson
With a series he directed you retard.
Samuel Wood
Sorry for trying to start an intelligent discussion. I didn't realize I was in a shitposting thread.
Carson Miller
...
Sebastian Taylor
M8 if you want a Dezaki rec thread fuck off. If you've actually watched Dezaki then you'd know how to start discussion about him and his brilliant directing style.
Speaking of Dezaki, how does the Black Jack film stack up compared to his work on the OVA?
Aiden Hall
You call that intelligent?
Joseph Nguyen
I didn't say I my post was intelligent. I know it wasn't. But I was expecting intelligent responses.
Andrew Diaz
Garbage in, garbage out
David Campbell
I haven't started it yet, but it's on my backlog >there are posters on Sup Forums who can't adapt to all genres of anime i want casuals to leave
Jackson Gomez
Stupid questions deserve stupid answers.
Bentley Diaz
Holy shit, what's going on in this thread?
To the guy that's asking, truthfully just pick one. I have no idea why you're getting these responses.
Jeremiah Walker
Not even the best tennis anime.
Connor Morris
What's with the interlacing?
Brody King
Moefags can't really keep up with old school shoujo.
Now modern shoujo, on the other hand, are mostly ass.
Adrian Myers
Screenshot from the DVD I own.
Alexander Russell
What the fuck are you on? It's immensely popular, everyone who's not a newfag knows about it.
Leo Morgan
Because most people only watch muh 80s OVAs and popular FotM shit like Sword Art Online or anything by Gainax/Trigger
Kayden Brooks
Gay.
Camden Murphy
It is very popular though.
Isaac Lopez
Is Prince of Tennis worth reading or was it just made to get fujobucks after Slam Dunk ended?
William King
Gainax hasn't been FotM in like six years.
Aiden Morris
Normally I answer such questions with "Try it out yourself", but since I wasted way too much time on PoT for the wrong reason, I'll tell you what I think. It's a powerlevel manga. It's barely about tennis or anything you'd like about a sports manga. You read it like a battle shonen. In fact, by the end of the original manga there's at least 2 characters that actually transform, DBZ style. The sequel introduces the real silliness though. I read it for the smug shota and I was seriously disappointed. I should have stuck with Case Closed. I guess fujoshi might get something out of it. I didn't really pay attention to that angle.
Jackson Parker
You can start with these movies if you want to get a quick feel of his style. >Cobra >Black jack >Golgo 13 movie + OAV
His most important series : > Cobra : it has better animation than half of 2016 lineup. Based MC. > Ashita no Joe : the anime is superior thanks to his epic direction and Sugino's designs. You can jump the 2nd series if you're familiar with the story. It's shorter and better animated. > Black jack OAV > Rose of Versailles
Stay away from his 00' works.
Andrew Collins
>> Cobra : it has better animation than half of 2016 lineup. Based MC. Why would you advertise something by saying it has passable animation? >epic Fuck off.
Hunter Morris
>spoon feeding Faggot. How's the Black Jack film? or the last two episodes of the OVA made in 2010?
Brody Hughes
Watch a random episode. It has exceptional animation for a tv work. Some newfags think traditional animation evolves with technology without knowing what they're talking about. Saying that a show from 1983 didn't age and is better animated than most shit that come out today, says a lot, and should put things in perspective for people like you.
Faggot. Movie : I enjoyed Dezaki's prime mise en scene, but wasn't impressed by the scenario, it didn't add up. I gave it 6/10. and OAV 8/10 10' : haven't seen em yet.
Nolan Adams
* jump "to" the 2nd series
Adrian Reyes
>Stay away from his 00' works
Are you high or something? His Genji Monogatari anime is fucking great.
Justin Reed
Well the last two episodes were made after he died, and I hear online they get a really bad rap compared to his original OVA. I can understand why, the original OVA series is brilliant.
Chase Brown
>Gaynji - It is not a milestone of his bodywork that should be recommended to someone who wants to discover him - Animation was very limited and harmony cels don't work well in digital (easy one) - Gisaburo's 1987 movie is a masterpiece and already made any other adaptation of Genji irrelevant.
Daniel Hernandez
>by Ootsuka Reika
Alexander Parker
I didn't know it existed, but I'll give it a try. Tennis series with a cute girl as the mc, hell, a sports series with girls, it's all I need to know.
Adrian Ortiz
Isn't it not entirely translated?
Sebastian Hughes
did you get to watch Shin AwN and AwN OAV ? can't find subs.
Nathan Young
First TV series and the movie are completely subbed and the first OVA series is getting translated bit by bit.
Carson Wright
I've had some awareness of it for a long time, but never felt a need to watch it, and will probably have to wait for a bit longer before I get to it, but the picture looks nice.
Brayden Brooks
Thx. which group did the OVA ?
Camden Nelson
Whenever I see this gif, I wish I had a full length movie of somebody furiously polishing various surfaces.
