It took you this long to notice? It only gets more ridiculous from there on too.

What seeing Yujio force George Bush to drive him around didn't clue you in

...

I guess not everyone can notice that it's just some guy's bara comedy fetish.

Oliva is a damn gold mine. Like the time he implied if his muscle strength was unleashed, it would literally become an Akira flesh-monster and consume the entire world.

Literally

Have you watched this, OP? Some jap comedians cosplaying as Baki characters explain the series to a female audience. Way funnier than you'd expect. If you're at the point in your pic it has some minor spoilers, though.

...

At first I was like...

...Then I was like...

>Nobody told me Baki was a comedy.

You are still in the more "serious" part of the manga, it gets even more comedic later.

I wouldn't call the Pickle arc or the final arc of SoO comedic in any way. Nor really half of Dou.

I disagree with OP, since I wouldn't really call Baki a comedy as I never feel I'm being told a joke. The tone is serious. But the straight facedness of it only makes every ridiculous event funnier. If you don't see the hilarity in the premise of martial artists fighting an unfrozen caveman I don't know what to tell you.

Baki is super serious fighting manga.

...

did you miss the whole "I guess I was wrong" part

It still worked however.

>he's just sleeping
uh-huh

He proved the strength of Shinshinkai Karate

aaand it's gone

Its memory will live on.

I'm just here for the gay porn.

The fuck... Is the anime for Baki any good or only the manga? I'm new to it

First season is ok. Gay club music is nice. Lately it gets referenced a lot.

You need to watch the anime to get the entirety of the first series as-of-now. Everything else is TL'd.

The anime isn't great, but it has its moments. See: Shibukawa vs Doppo

The part of the manga covered by the first season was just finished scanlating, you only need to watched the second season (subtitled Maximum Tournament).

My favorite are these two, especially the latter.

Only the first series is animated. It goes Original Manga (OVAs->anime)->New Grappler Baki->Baki Son of Ogre->Baki-Dou
Shit gets really goofy in Son of Ogre, but the entire series is a rollercoaster. Fuck I need to get back to this. I'm still stuck on Pickle.

Oliva's ball form is what made me pick up this manga in the first place. Son of Ogre really is the pinnacle of Baki, when it fully embraced the ridiculous sci-fi powerlevel nonsense.

what the fuck is this art

So why does the Ogre apparently like Oliva? They seem remarkably chummy.

Because he's strong as fuck

I hate how they gave off the impression that oliva was a potential rival but he got surpassed mid way and is a complete joke.

They're both psychopathic, and both merciless. Not so much "friendliness" as it is "respect", and even that disintegrates at a certain point. The only people Yuujiro actually acknowledges as relative equals are Kaku, Baki and Musashi.

The idea is that both Baki and Yujiro are constantly improving mid fight. Originally Orochi Doppo was able to fight toe to toe with Yujiro.

What's Baki's endgame going to be? Ancient Egyptian aliens? The Norse gods being real? Jesus coming back to life to challenge Baki to a street fight?

It's a world where natty limit doesn't exist and loosely based on traditional Japanese woodcuts.

Yujirou physically overpowering Oliva, whose entire gimmick was being the physically strongest person in the universe, was pretty damn stupid.

He was tired that day from pounding his BBW waifu.

nah we seemed to be moving up in timelines not backwards

caveman -> mushashi -> Mike Tyson -> A Cyborg -> Saitama

Did you forget the entire third part started with Yujiro killing a Super Elephant with his hands?

...

It happened to Gaia, too. The point was made very early on: Yuujiro continuously gets stronger. The Yuujiro at the beginning of the manga squared off decently against Doppo before going all-out, whereas end-game Yuujiro could literally just throw him away without much of a thought.

...

Is that hand drawn or digital?

I don't get the feeling that there's no technique involved in this page

Hand.

...

Man when is Hanayama going to come back to the main series?

...

Itagaki tracing women makes sense.

>Retsu died
>Katsumi is somehow still alive

He's strong as fuck and he's not a "fake" in the sense many martial artists are. His fights are straightforward contests of strength, at least on his part.

In general it seems Yuujiro is more fond of straightforward brawlers like Oliva, Pickle or Hanayama (see their recent little fight) than martial artists. The former know their place in the pecking order - either they can overpower someone or not. The latter are putting on airs through tricks Yuujiro isn't really impressed with since he could do them better. To win Yuujiro's respect as a skill-focused martial artist you need to be Kaku tier. On that note I wonder what Ogre thinks of Shibukawa and thought of Retsu since they didn't interact much

They were quite chummy in that little spar too though.

He took a punch in the face from Hanma Yujiro.

He's not coming back until at least chapter 150.

Could current Baki beat beginning-of-manga Yuujiro?

(in fighting, not imaginary dining room antics)

not for long if I have anything to say about it

You think Katsumi can still do his regular sonic punches from the tournament with his remaining arm, or would he have PTSD about going fast?

he still accomplished the most powerful single punch in the series.

I'd say beginning Yuujiro is probably on par with present Doppo, so yeah.

I love how Hanayama is so fucking strong he doesn't even train and just fucks shit up. He has a perfect body.

So why do people seem to have a problem with armored Memetobe tanking the hits of a toothless, limp Jack?

I'm enjoying Baki Gaiden: Scarface so far.

Will we see this guy fight again?

Is there really any reason to believe Doppo became stronger at all?

In my mind he was at his peak in his fight with Yuujiro and since his death in that he's (at best) fully recovered.

Hopefully not, he's too valuable to risk life and limb in fight.

We could make the same argument about Pickle and Musashi.

It's repeatedly stated that he's training to get stronger throughout the manga, and that he's at the peak of his strength. He explicitly said he was going to train to become stronger after he loses in Maximum Tournament, and Katsumi says that he's training hardcore yet again at the beginning of Dou - there might be times in between those when he's said to have improved, I just don't remember everything. Regardless, everybody improves after surviving their fights in Korakuen. That goes for Shibukawa, Jack, Retsu, Motobe, etc. It's merely that Baki outpaces their progress because he's Baki.

He could save them from getting a bullet in the brain but not the other way around.

Payne doesn't believe that anybody's strong enough to beat Pickle except for Musashi (or Yuujiro), and Musashi's existence can't be made known to the public or Tokugawa & friends go to prison.

...

How is this muscle thing style called? Like Baki, Shigurui, some of JoJo for some extent. I believe I saw it on /toy/, but it was two their dead archives ago.

Ukiyo-e? It's just traditional Nip art.

Well, whatever. Thank you.

Oh wait, I think you might have been thinking about this guy? He's the closest Western reference.

I mean, he does draw hands the same way.

I know what you mean, and I'm pretty sure I remember reading it was called "flesh bomb" but googling the term now gives me nothing related.

Most obvious reference point.

WHAT THE FUCK IS EVEN HAPPENING!?

user pie?

He's using his imagination to help himself conquer the limitations placed on the body by the mind. To bypass all unconscious limits. By doing so, he gains the ability to strike harder, but also completely destroys and loses his arm, as seen here: and He realizes (too late) that his arm cannot become what it is in his imagination, and almost dies.

man even I can tell that's a bad Idea and I never got past white belt

Baki - Son of Ogre, chapter 120.

The Pickle Arc is when you start to look for the brakes on this train.

The art looks hilarious. That should have been your first clue.

...

It's cyclical. Once you reach a certain point, you realize that everything you know is wrong. See: perfect seiken

Baki himself looks really moe somehow, even if everyone else looks like their faces were beaten in with a shovel

>everyone else looks like their faces were beaten in with a shovel
Half of them have had far worse than that, so

I only barely knew Baki by reading fragments of the manga and told a friend it's "realistic" meaning the realistic as in, no throwing fireballs around or magic. He then read the part when Yujiro stopped an earthquake with his fist and never let me live it down.

>Yujiro stopped an earthquake with his fist
he didn't; it's ambiguous on purpose

what's the probability of the author of this not being gay?

What's wrong?

Does the sight of a strong man make you uncomfortable?

No, but the amount of pissing and erections in this manga does.

What erections?

There's not much, so you might be unconsciously gay.

>What erections?
Off the top of my head, Oliva when fighting the shotgun dude.

I can never decide if I want to read this or not.

>1/1

Do it.

In the amount of time spent coming to a decision, you could be up to the Raitai Arc.

Make up your fucking mind.
