The Enishi arc was fine until Watsuki pulled that "Kaoru isn't REALLY dead" bullshit.
I mean Enishi probably shouldn't have been the final boss of the series (since anything's gonna feel underwhelming after Shishio) but eh. I liked the endings for Sano and Saitou as characters though.

Shishio was a filler villain. He was put there because editors demanded him to be there. The story was supposed to be a straightforward story about revenge a la Samurai Champloo.
