Original art VN.
The VN (patch the sprites and the music) > the Manga > The Anime
What's wrong with the music?
the new 2016 live action tv series
I like the anime because it has more gore but it still keeps the atmosphere of the VN. If you do read the VN, patch the sprites. Umineko is still better though
How should I read Umineko, manga or VN?
I think that the other way works too: anime -> manga -> vn. That way with each step you get something new.
VN, the anime is shit, good Op though
youtube.com
But it's the same OP from the ps3 game. Also it was a discussion between the manga and the VN.
PS3 patched VN. The music is half of Umineko's worth, another 20% going to Kinzo and Beato's VAs, and the last 30% to episode 3's story.
Beatrices VA was perfect, as was EVAs.
Why isn't Higurashis music as good as Uminekos?
Eva was pure ham, and not in an endearing way like Kinzo (being SEELE 01 helped elevate him for me). It only felt like a sincere performance when she was shouting.
Higurashi attracted his posse of amazing composers.
Let's hope whenever he decides to make WTC5 it will have the same composers, the music really is something else, not a single bad track and there is about 100 songs.
>WtC5
Never happening. His (very probably) more talented idea guy/beta reader died near the end of Umineko, and I hear his later novels were average.
>I hear
I don't know about RGD but read Higanbana dude. It's phenomenal, like if you took out the mystery parts of Umi but doubled down on the dark comedy.
How's the music?
VN. The anime is in such a big fucking hurry to get to the gore so that the ADD kids don't drop it in the first episode, that it skips most of the slice of life, which is meant to help you get to know the characters, and throws subtlety out the window.
The original Mangagamer release replaced some of the songs with some bull shit
When has DEEN ever done a good job at adapting anything?
Great, not as god as Umineko of course

I got strong Higurashi vibes from it. It's pretty good, atmospheric. It's also pretty short, maybe two Higurashi parts in length. It's made up of short stories that interconnect. I really want a Night 3 because it's left kind of open.
The first half of Higurashi was all public domain stuff grabbed from various websites. It didn't have music composed specifically for it until the second half.
Is she using the same pose as the stakes? That lazy fuck wrote the same book 4 times with only minor differences, and now he's reusing his own art.
Is it worth it waiting for this most recent retranslation?
You're baiting but you still made me look.
They adapted Rakugo beautifully.
I thought Rei and Kira were good.
I hear Konosuba saved anime last season.
how patch sprites and music?
>there are people that still don't understand the the VN is always the most complete and superior media
There is literally no adaption that surpasses the VN. The only one that comes close is Clannad (because the VN contains about 30 hours of useless garbage), but even then the important scenes aren't as well-done as they were in the VN.
Then debate between the manga and the VN.
The manga is good for reading afterwards, but go with the VN.
Higurashi was originally all planned out with sound in mind. The music is top notch, sound effects too (hearing cicadas and good horror noises). Not to mention the VN is much longer, with tons more info. Subtle hints and the TIPS menu that are vital for the mystery aspect of the story. Personally I can't imagine reading the manga first and trying as hard to solve certain questions and looking back through the dialogue and TIPS for hints.

Superior stock-kinomusique.
>implying any song will be better than youtube.com
Fucking lies, it's not hopeful at all

Eva's voice made pretty much every other line she said fappable. Based Miki Itou.

What's with DEEN and the god tier OPs.
Even Vampire Knight has good OPs
So what exactly is coming out of that 10th anniversary thing?
Should I read this before Umineko?
Yes
The artstyle really puts me off
And Umineko's looks any better? Get used to it or use the art patch.
>And Umineko's looks any better
Yeah?
STEAM release right?
The middle one was from PS2 right?
It looks so much better than the newest.
>never happening
outside of being confirmed with a printed novella out right now acting as an introduction?
All of them are great. It doesn't matter which one you start with
Live action
The introduction in the novel is for Hotarubi, not WTC5
Manga.
And is it confirmed that it won't be called wtc5? Because it is directly tied to higurashi and umineko
>tfw you're waifu turned into a massive slut
Why Jesus why.
Oh yeah, also the Higurashi event ended yesterday, we didn't get any anime announcements sadly.
Hotarubi started a few months ago, and it has never been referred to as WTC5. I also think WTC5 would probably be a VN if it ever happened, and not a manga
Wait, Hotarubi is a manga? I've been seriously out of the loop. I assumed it was going to be a VN.
Should I read it or should I wait for the inevitable VN adaptation like higanbana?
>Should I read it
I wish I could tell you, but unfortunately only chapter 0, which is kind of like a preview, is translated. I'm not sure if anyone are going to translate the rest or not
I like the MangaGamer translation better
What does Sup Forums think of the Higurashi and Umineko manga adaptations?
Is Higurashi VN better than Umineko? Umineko was god awful except maybe ep7. Especially ep8 was full blown powerlevel shounenshit.
Is this official art?
They're both great, but the VNs are still better
VN is the most boring shit ever
Anime is the most boring thing ever
Manga is boring
It depends on who you ask. I personally like Higurashi better.
eh, maybe the steam version is closer with that (lol) thing
The old translation is terrible. They even fucked up the grammar
>in a dark woods
The new one is a lot better
They are both MangaGamer's. The top one is from a more recent release which is both on their site and on steam.
>lol
And people pay money for this? Why the fuck is this allowed? How can they fuck up a translation this bad?
>episode 3
Stop reminding me user
The Japanese version says (笑) which means (laugh). It's pretty accurate, and a lot more accurate than the old translation
Yep, it's one of the dakimakura covers that are on sale
What happened with the trianthology anyway? I remember it being announced last year and then hearing nothing about it ever since.

>企画・構想などから約4年、やっと形にして今年の夏コミにて発表できる!
If I understand this right, it will be released at Comiket in August. There's also a manga adaptation ongoing currently
oh shit, thank you user
Do I have to read Higurashi before Umineko?
No
The steam version seems to be more accurate.
I still feel more comfortable playing the old version though for some reason. It's probably just because I played it first.
>Anime, Manga, or VN? Which is the best way to enjoy Higurashi?
USE SODA
No, but I would recommend it.
No one cares about Umineko, stop polluting the thread with it
Learn Japanese and buy Sui for PS3 before it completely vanishes.
Sui has all the arcs including the bonus ones, FULL voice acting, and bonus stills.
VN, with original boxing glove hand art.
Boring, boring, it's all so boring!
does bern have boobs or is she really supposed to be flat chested
If she's got them in the original art she's got them. They just got downgraded in other adaptations because.
