6 is a holy number in Judaism
"Million" is just the biblical-era version of "really fucking big number," sort of like "googolplex" would be today
So "6 million" is sort of a hebraic scary-symbolic symbolic way of saying "all." That's why it's used in the scary bedtime stories they love to tell themselves.
Re-read those clippings and substitute "all" for "6 million" and you'll see the meaning stays the same but now it's more recognizable as the holy myth it is for them.
