So is this worth getting into? Everyone always praises it, but 300 episodes is quite the investment. Does it actually stay funny? I know it's mainly a comedy series but are there ever any more serious arcs?

Just wondering if I should clog the space left in my harddrive with this.

Just watch it and drop it whenever you feel like doing so.

Just watch it.

Gintama is fucking GOAT

Drop it immediately.

There are some good serious arcs. It's one of the few series that understands when a situation should be serious or not. I know some people that actually aren't big fans of the comedy but watch it for the story oddly enough. I find it funny though. Like with everything else it's hard to say whether you will find it funny or not because everyone has a different taste in humor.

21 episode rule. Also MC is basically Sugita.

It's the perfect mix of comedy and serious arcs.

Doesn't get really good until about 309.

...

Do it for her.

Personally, I like the serious arcs the most. I wouldn't watch it if I didn't enjoy the comedy as well though, which makes Gintama hilarious at times.

Alright, now it feels manageable.

Thanks Sup Forumsnon.

it's good and all, just make sure you stop watching after you watch the first episode of the fourth season
every other episode of it is awful

I dropped it 50 something episodes in. I think it's a Stockholm syndrome type of thing.

I dropped it 100 episodes in

That is a bigger number than 50 so my bait is tastier

The first 20 episodes ranged from bad to mediocre. After that it was a fucking gold mine.

Dropped after 25 episodes.
I'm convinced the fans of this show are just converts from the big 3. They heard that naruto wasn't cool anymore, so they went to a show that parodies shonen to feel superior.

I tried reading the manga, I liked that it never took more than 10 chapters to resolve an arc but it also never really went anywhere so I lost interest around chapter 300.

>bait
People can like different things without it being bait user.

Imo it can be fairly hit or miss. It gets better as the series goes on though.

Skip the first two episodes, which were filler made for manga fans, in order to feature some characters months before their actual introduction. Gintama's later anime original episodes are good, but those two weren't.

Start from episode 3, and watch a few. If you don't enjoy the show much, skip to episode 25. If you don't like episode 25 either, drop the show.

oh you don't want to watch a good anime huh

why don't you go watch In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust.

What the hell do you want to gain by watching a good long series? Enjoyment? Relating to other hobbiests? An understanding of media culture?

What else are you going to do? Why do you even watch anime? Some visual stimulation?

It's a good investment but the earlier episodes are garbage.

It's worth it in many ways but the first 20 eps are kinda slow compared to the rest of the series

I want to make Tsukyu blush

>300 ep is quite an investment
You can stop any time, it's not like you pull a 1-way level and then your time just drains, moron.

Starts slow/meh but it's known as GOATama for a reason. I even dropped it at first

This, a lot of gintama is short series arcs of 1-3 episodes, with a bunch of episodic parts in between.

People complain a lot about the early episodes, but other than the two-part filler starter they're okay. The side characters take some time to develop, but the main trio is what it is right from the start.

That being said, the producer and director confessed on some DVD special that they tried to make the anime into something the whole family could watch and they gave up after the first year, so yeah, it starts getting better and better after the first 50 episodes.

I wanna fuck Kyubei...
