I haven't read it in a while but I'm on ch 100 and it's pretty mediocre ao far. Every arc the author makes him the strongest at the end to beat the big bad, and then at the beginning of every arc the author has to nerf him bc hes too strong with some bullshit reason like he lost sight of himself. Im not saying its awful so far it's just not special. I prefer suicide island by this author.

...

The structure is pretty straightforward and formulaic, but it carries adolescent feelings with an unrivalled strenght. Also, except for a few asspulls (notably the judoka's and kendoka's fight), it's fights are amazing.

Holyland's probably good if you're a high schooler obsessed with "manliness."

Agreed.

Reminder that MC died a virgin.

He is alive and fucks the shit out of that dude's sister.

I'd kill to have an anime adaptation of this

Reminder that author is best friends with Berserk's Miura since high school and is the reason why Casca was more or less well written.

Explain the Casca thing

Too bad the authors noses got out of control after Holyland

I read somewhere that Miura was part of a group in high school and they wanted to draw manga. Was he part of the same group?

It's good but not god like.

I read Miura is having a bad influence on this guy when it comes to work ethic, he said Miura isn't very serious or something.

Those same assumptions can be made about pretty much any manga and anime. Not really an argument.

Googled it, apparently it's true

"Sur les bancs du lycée, il rencontra un certain Kentarô Miura, futur auteur de Berserk, et tous deux avaient pris l'habitude de dessiner dans la maison de ce dernier. Ils rejoignirent ensemble l'Université des Arts de Tôkyô"

>inb4 french

Why the fuck didn't you spoiler that? I won't read any more of this thread. Now I'm going to have to download and read the volumes I haven't finished,
I'll coming back when I'm done. Idiot.

Miura had little experience with women while Mori had considerably more. I'm in the process of finding an interview comic by Miura on it.

Dunno much about that.

>MC died
How dense are you?

It only says narrative consultant here though. Not saying you're bsing, just pointing that out.

In the interview he mentions one of his friends used to get into fights a lot. The narration in Holyland makes it sound like the author has experience in street fighting. I wonder if Miura was talking about this guy.

No worries, just trying to find the rest of this comic series. Always call people out on their bullshit on Sup Forums.

Yeah, they had a manga group but the others weren't as dedicated as Miura and while he was drawing like crazy they focused on other things like sex, parties. And then Idolm@ster happened.

Here we go.
Series is called "Challenging the Manga Dojos" if anyone's interested.

>the art is better in mine

Miura roasting his friend I see. It's true though, as much as I like Mori

I never imagined Miura as a shut in. I mean I know he likes idom@ster but I always imagined him as an alpha "I don't give a fuck" kind of guy who has a lot of fun when he's not working.

But isn't he implying he did Casca by himself?

Re-reading it, it does seem to imply it. I still feel like he consulted him anyway.

"For Casca I just kinda wrote someone who was my type, it somehow worked out"

Then he says he need help and talks about Farnese. He need help for her, not Casca. I think that's what is being implied.

It was ok.

...

...

This is my problem with the series too. And it happens like three or four times. After some time I just couldn't take it seriously anymore and it really lowered my enjoyment of the manga.

The ending felt pretty satisfying and I don't know why.

Shamo was a better fighting mango for the most part.

I liked everything about it up until the cop out with the girl friend.
A bunch of legit thugs kidnap and drug her and she gets out scot free unceremoniously? Fuck that man. I didn't want anything to happen to her but if you raise the stakes you have to meet it with tension. That was the narrative equivalent of 'Just a prank bro'

Wasn't she about to get raped?

The other girl that MC's friend (the useless one) liked got rekt really hard though.

Sure she was but then she wasn't. She was used for tension during the fight then freed quick as you like without any resolution as if to say 'well now that's out of the way'

I guess. That last arc wasn't even that great anyway, aside from the big ass fight and some characters making a come back.

It's really good indeed.

Except he died, but his spirit prevailed.

Miura's written stuff about being lonely as hell though

You don't have to be a loner for that though. But yeah I suppose it should have tilted.

It was okay. That narrator was pretty cool though
